OK - you guys who live in snowland - I really feel for you. You really want to play, you are thinking about the game while you have a bunch of the white stuff on the ground...

Next Winter, let's plan way in advance, for you to come down here and play some golf. I mean this - it would be great and we would have a blast.

If you plan these trips way out - you can do it cheaper with the airfares and other expense items.

We can put together very reasonably priced golf around here that is very good through the Robert Trent Jones Trail and other good/excellent public access facilities.

Birmingham is served by all major airlines including Southwest (which costs a maximum of $250 roundtrip if purchased 21 days out) and Northwest - which has excellent service through Detroit and Minneapolis to/from Canada. Also United through Denver from points in the Western US and Canada.

It would be a true delight for me to put together a trip in late February or very early March when the weather is truly warming up here into the 60's and 70's - while you still have snow.

PLAN AHEAD....save the pennies and do it a year out and it is very doable.

Any thoughts on this? I would love having everyone and I absolutely guarantee you Tremendous golf at very reasonable costs...

I am very much into the idea Bravo and I will keep my fingers crossed but with 3 youngsters to raise there is always something popping up. I had to cancel an icefishing trip to Lake Champlain this weekend because of "circumstances".

My Dad lives in Naples, Fl......they have some great golf down there, let me tell you.

I'll keep the thought in my head.

That would be a blast. I'm in. Sling. We could do it here in TN, we'll pawn your kids off on my wife (we have 4, she'll never even notice the difference) and we'll hit the Fall Creek Falls package. Cabins and golf are in a dirt cheap package during the off season. Bravo, let's clear our schedules and meet up.

BD - we've been talking about this and need to make it a reality...

Selfishly - I would like to play the Bear Trace course in Chattanooga bc I have never been on any of these facilities and you seem to have a way of getting exceptional prices on greens fees/carts.

I am going to NYC in a couple of weeks and then to Oklahoma. Late February would be good for me....

We have a very fun retired guy in my Sunday group who is originally from Chicago. Big Notre Dame fan.

He has a Winter home in Naples and loves it....

I'm interested in this, but being in law school, it kind of has to coincide with my reading break (mid February). It sounds like a great plan though!

Naples...you could visit your friend, I could visit my Dad, they can all play with us...it would be cool....my wife gets a partial lay off in the winter so I could make it happen.

I'll pray that the construction gods are good to me this year.

Bravo, we'll make it the Bear Trace then. You won't be disappointed. Let me know and I'll make the arrangements. All of the Bear Traces are nice, but I actually prefer the Cumberland course, about an hour north of me. It's prettier, more interesting, and rarely crowded. That'll be about tax return time too, so we'll make it on me.

Silver, February sounds kind of similar to Bravo and my plans here. Come on down. The undulations at Bear Trace will have you "reading breaks" at every turn. ;)

Haha. This year my reading break is the week of Feb 14 - 18. Not sure when next year's will land, but I'm sure it'll be similar.

I like this plan.

I think I'd drive down. It would probably be cheaper for me to, as flying into Minneapolis is expensive for me. Don't ask why, it just is.

The only thing that hoops you with driving is time. 3 days there and 3 days back. Thats a week right there. Add that to the 3 weeks I'm staying with Bravo, I gotta take a month off work!

I'm gonna see if I can work this out tho. I've only been away somewhere warm for golf once in my life, and I was about 17 when i went.

Perhaps i can embarrass myself with some "off season, out of shape, Canadian that can't putt on that grass" golf for you guys.

I can drive a golf cart like crazy tho. :D

Great idea Bravo. Planning that far out should give me enough time to explain to my wife why I'm going to play golf with a bunch of guys I met on the internet.

She already thinks I'm a little nuts so this should be fun. :D

Rock, if you drive to the closest airport that has a Southwest connection you should be able to fly the rest of the way cheap. Maybe several of you Canadians could car pool. If you plan ahead and watch their website there are some great deals. This Christmas we flew our daughter home from Lubbock for $96.00 round trip.

Who knows what will happen between now and then but I would love to see that part of the country so lets do it.
