Christ!

The web host is so far ignoring me and the new host can't get anything done until the problem is fixed.

I can sense this is gonna get nasty.

Brutal.

How ignorant is that? And nice customer service.

How do they expect to keep/have a good name if they act like that?

Anyone else having trouble? I can get in for five or ten minutes at a time and then nothing.

Sling, you sure we're not using the same service?

My browser is still pointing to the old IP, so that's where I am at.

I'm having the same trouble as you Dave.

Vizaweb is the current host. They are a reseller....they buy server space from www.theplanet.com and resell it to people like me.

In order to make the move I need a back up of the site made and moved to the new server. Right now I can't (nor can the migration people at hostforweb.com) make a full backup.

I have informed vizaweb that I want to move and that they need to do one for me and place it in the home folder on my account so I can get it and give it to the new guy's.

I am waiting to hear on that.

www.hostforweb.com has all their own gear, so no reseller this time.

Unless the master wants to pay $200 a month for a dedicated server, it ain't gonna happen. I can get, for $300 - $500 a year what is called a virtual private server (VPS) which is a partition on a mainframe computer....almost dedicated but not as much money. That is something I'll think about as we go along.....I need to get this situation taken care of first.

Thanks for your patience.

Quentin did you use a manual cmd prompt to ping it I just did the same I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

And sling I was only joking I have never had any problems with this site bar the past two days.

There isn't anything wrong with it. You can ping an IP address and get a reply regardless of whether a site or service is located on that IP. They probably have problems other than a working internet connection. I've always received a reply from the IP. When you ping a web address, it will give you the ip in the ping.
