Who wants to play a round Monday Sept 7th with me.. The course is in Whittier, near the Cherokee Casino.

Just opened Sept 1st.. World Class course, RTJ designed.

Sequoyah National Golf Club

Should be nice, considering the rental clubs are brand new FT-9 drivers, X-22 irons, Diablo fairway woods, and half dozen Callaway balls for $45 bucks!

Looks fantastic. $85 for a weekday round, $110 weekend, online tee times are showing it's $85 for monday, considering it's a holiday.

I'm debating playing it, as I'll be in the mtns. this weekend anyways. Don't want to play it alone if I do, but might if I'm tempted enough...

Nov 1, the rate drops to $65. Will plan to play it then as well before we close up for the winter.

Just tossing the idea out there. Didn't know how many of you guys in central NC, or western NC would be interested!

Roger.. I'm probably not going to play, although it would be nice to be some of the first to put some nice ball marks on some new greens. :)

I'll let you know around then.. I play to go up atleast around the Oct/Nov time frame again, before the snow comes, and the temps drop way down. $65 for a new course like that in that area is GREAT.

I'm planning on a round here Nov 16 or the 17th.. The rate is $65 for a cart and 18. I'll supply the beer since they said the course is too hilly for a cart girl.. Odd I know. ;)

Who wants to play? It's near the casino in Cherokee, I'm around an hour from there.

I'm up for whichever day if someone wants to join me to hack up the course. Should be around mid 50's.. Good weather, still some color in the leaves, and I doubt it'll be crowded.

Played here this past Friday.

It's a nice area in the Smokies, near the Cherokee reserve and casinos.

The course is so new, they wouldn't allow anything but cart path only, plus they've had a ton of rain. Had to close one of the prettiest holes I've EVER seen, and the driving range is on the side of a mountain, where you just bomb them off the end of the cliff, it was closed too.

The course is in fantastic shape though. Seriously tough greens, and they weren't really kind with the pin positions.

The fescue rough, was around 5-6 inches, and holy hell was it tough to find your ball, AND get good contact on the ball to hit the greens. The fairways were extremely plush, and were bluegrass I believe. Very good fairways, and no level lies what so ever.

White, fine sanded bunker, that your ball never really sat just perfect in, with high lips, and nasty green complexes were tough to get up and down.

The elevated tee boxes, and the changes in elevation were hell on my club selections. I almost drove the green with a 17* hybrid on a 335 yarder.. Dog leg right, I cut the corner and it was around a 100 yard drop.

Shot a 88, which wasn't bad I think..One of my better rounds, and considering I was trying to read their yardage book, and the elevation, it was crazy fun. Played from the tips, which were around 6600 yards, the next set of tee's were only 6200. 6600 is around what I play I think. Most holes I was hitting short irons, or wedges into the greens.. If I hit the fairways. :)

Nice place though, should be nice once it grows in, and gets going. Good service too. towels and tees on the carts. Coolers attached with ice in them as well. They valet your car, put your clubs on the cart, and have you ready to roll.

The practice area will be nice once it's all ready too. They've had a ton of rain, and due to just having opened in Sept, they haven't had everything rooted in just right yet.

Fall was a good time to see the leaves AND play some golf.

Ken..

If you ever want to play there, do let me know ahead of time.

The club valet told me that around April, they will lift the cart path only restriction, and I think the rate will still be $65 till mid April. Should be nice weather, and the trees will be filling in. After that, the rate jumps to $110, and honestly, if I had to pay the prime rack rate for my round on Friday, I would have felt ripped off. It's just not really mature enough I think for them to charge that to people, but understand that golf isn't huge for that area other than tourist.

We can play for some chips at the casino. :)

The course was nice though, just kinda odd holes. Good length par 5's with some tough uphill approaches. Alot of holes that took your drive away because of the downhill tee shots and dog legs, though.

The par 3's were tough... One was 223, and flat with a forced carry of around 165 yards, and no love on the left.

I'm looking forward to what it looks like in the spring after everything grows in more.

Oh wow, NC people.

Anything good around Durham? I moved up a few months ago for grad school and haven't had much of a chance to shoot around.

No idea, don't live in NC, and don't think I could. We have a house we go to for long weekends during the summer.
