Garcia makes that same move when going for a 'biggie.'

What about Tiger 'snapping' his left leg when he wishes to really go after one. Facsinating stuff, is the golf swing...:)

lol, thats a great pic of Parnevik:) I think you really need natural talent to swing like this,I don't think its technique, its more about talent.

Being young has to help too. If I even tried that I'd be visiting the back doctor again.

Hmmm, its not really an idea,it sort of happens naturally as your swing develops and you naturally learn to time the ball.I have a book with 25 swing sequences and they don't all look like Donald and Parnevik, these are the extremes. But they all have their hips cleared to some degree.

The last thing that moves on the backswing should be the left ankle, and many amateurs have no flexibility in the ankle, they keep it stiff,so it doesn't let the hips move naturally. The first thing that moves down logically should therefor be............the left ankle. This is the pandoras box of a swing, timing, rythym and speed.About 10,000 practice balls should get you to first base.

I've posted a few photos here recently of my old pal Danny who I describe as 'the most powerful player' I know. He is 5'7" and weighs about 160.

He is 51 now and can still hit it over 300 from time to time. Can very regularly hit it in the 280 range.

He looks like that photo. My longtime joke with him is that the f***'s the ball with this massive forward movement of his pelvis..

There is no doubt that the hips are the key...

I agree they are important to a consistent repeating swing, but not to distance, remember,Luke Donald is not a long hitter.
