Well i went to the range and a guy pulls up hitting a few and next thing i know he's showing me how to swing and showing me what iam doing wrong. Well, I'am cocking my wrist like I'am hitting a baseball instead of letting the clube turn my wrist up , 2nd thing My right leg is straight up and down on my backswing and follow through, 3rd my head whole body is infront of the ball and iam looking up trying to find the ball before impact which is causing misshits. Now My slice is being cause because iam turning my whole body torso upper body everything on downswing making the club turn outwards... Now Here's the freaky part.

He had me turn backwards putting the ball to my left and using only my upper body to swing, It took me 2 times and I now can draw the ball and Guess what else!!! I hit the damn ball 310 !!!!! I'am totaly blew away , Now here's the bad thing, I cant do that standing straight to the ball only if iam turned backwards with the ball to my left and swing, Its Freaky . So now i gota learn to use the same method when standing straight to the ball, And i cant do it "yet" . So i may be going out to the golf course next weekend turned around and hitting perfect draws and straight down the middle its so freaky guys. He said anyone can do it , ITs the best way to learn how to draw the ball without buying some money grubby gagit's. He also told me that my Clubs were for advanced players , " TaylorMade Foraged " that i need to get myself some cavity backs for learning clubs untill i have my swing 80% right with tempo and on plane. Well I'am excided to show my brother in law that i can hit the ball further than him turned backwards hahahahah.

by the way to comfirm that i hit it 310 he even had a guy go out and messure the extra 10 yards off the 300 mark, It went so far i couldnt even see the damn ball till it hit the ground and rolled .

I also forgot to say this guy had a pga card and said he is a retired Greens keeper from Destin Florida, also he told me he has teached and played on tour for several years and retired in my area , Whats the odds of this? He also said he would teach me anything i want to learn , He took my driver from me to show me what a True draw looks like when done right, It was amazing hahah iam talking my head off right now i got excided when i hit a draw and it went far sorry :faintthud

yo man, swinging only with the upper body? that's messed...not right

if it works, then fine...it just seems weird

He's right... you should sell your clubs to me :) Heck I'll trade you my Cleveland TA7 cavity backs straight up if you want :)

That is a drill and not ment to be used all the time. You will soon develope back trouble if you use it all the time.

What i dont understand is why i can hit the ball straight like that but cant do it , Standing straight to the ball.

It is all about the mechanics. I had to try it just to see what would happen. All I can say is, you are the stongest person I have ever seen. I consider my self a long ball hitter, normally 290+ with a little draw. I killed myself this way and all I could get was about 250, maybe.

There are three things that I think are essential to making solid contact and being able to hit a draw. This is for average golfers that have a good base swing to work from. It is a little tough to explain without be able to watch a person, you can try it and take what you want from it.

Problem number 1 -- A lot of golfers take the club away with the wrists. That is setting yourself up to slice or hook(for the most part slice). If you do this you are already in trouble this is what you first need to start working on. You don't want much/any movement in the wrists until your arms are just a little below parallel with the ground.

If you can get that down the toughest part is done. Now a good routine that I was shown by a coach was to place a tee about 16-20 inches behind a ball that is teed up. On your take away bring the club directly over the tee. That is going to get your swing plane started out right.

Problem number 2 -- As many golfers start the down swing the first thing that happens is there head and body start forward. I can control a driver pretty well and when I want to fade or slice a ball this is the primary way i control it. Once I hit the top of the back swing, my shoulders and head start moving forward. That is going to give you an outside in swing.

When you first address the ball, try keeping your head back behind the ball, almost to the point it feels a little awkward(it will get more natural). You are going to want to have your left shoulder 2 - 3 inches higher then the right. As you swing through, you DO NOT want your head to move any farther forward. Also don't drop your left shoulder. That is going to bring a slice back into play.

Problem number 3 -- There is a lack of control in alot of peoples swings. Some golfers start in on the backswing and by the time they are half way through they have a club head speed of 100mph (a little exaggerated) going backwards. Then on the downswing they have to make adjustments. A place that can get you into alot of trouble.

Most of your club head will be generated after the club parallels the ground. What this does is make the power come from a more compact area and will allow you to control the ball much better.

These are just a few things that I have used to help the mid/high handicappers that have decent basics but have hit a wall. You can take it for what it's worth. Nothing is going to beat a coach who can sit there and watch where your swing is breaking down. It is just something you may want to try at the range and see if it helps at all.

    Good Luck
