Popped along to the course yesterday to pick up my media accreditation. Didn't have a lot of time as I had to pick up the wean from nursery, but I had a wee stroll around.

Went to the media tent first of all and was greeted by the organiser who said "ah yes, you're the photographer". "yes", I blushed.

was given a car park pass as well as an ID badge - i'll get the official photographer armband on Thursday! I was given a quick tour of the media tent...all the individual reporting booths for the journalists...the photographers area...trays for daily press updates/releases...and the bit where the free lunch is served each day!

So...free entry, free food and access to the golfers.

I then had a wander around...the practice putting area, driving area and a couple of holes. Sadly my time was limited and I didnt see Monty, VJ, Sergio or Daly but that'll come.

Was interesting, to me, to watch the caddies rolling golf balls over the greens and taking notes of the slopes. And to watch a few of the pros drive off the first. Saw Jiminez, cigar in mouth, whack a belter straight as an arrow down the middle. Maybe looks like a 70's porn star, but he can hit a golf ball.

Today is the pro-am. Not sure if I'll be able to make it out, but will go along for a wee while on Thurs/Fri. And all day Sat/Sun.

Nervous, but will be an experience and good practice ahead of the Dubai Desert Classic in two weeks. See ya there, Tiger!

3 months in the monastery and I'm back. I'll check thru IG's and Ka's postings to search for libellous content. Sorry I took so long away, but thanks to the guys that emailed me over that time, I'm looking forward to catching up on all the news, great to see KA has diversified into snapping porn stars ...maybe I read IG's post wrong ..

I remember reading a cracking article a while back - some golf journo, a decent low handicapper - played 18 with Jiminez. A few side bets went on, journo lost them all. Then on a par 3 the jouno knocked it to 3 feet - he looked at Jiminez and said something like "double or quits on all our bets - bet you cant get inside that".

Jiminez chewed on his cigar, stared at the journo and agreed. knocked it to 6 inches.

Yeah right ... well I'm workin on the premise that you had 350 odd posts when I left on my voyage into the wilderness, I come back and you've over a thousand racked up so I'm guessing there's 650 posts in which I can sift for offending material.

BTW ..I'm offta Scotland in March, the Old Course and Carnoustie are top of the agenda, full itinarary to follow, us auld lads are lookin for some pensioner specials..

Welcome back Dave. Did you see that IG is coming to the states to kick me and wirehair around a bit. Would love to hear any ideas you might have on dealing with him.

Thanks a lot Dave ..yeah 2nd post I read was the waggly ones trip to Texas. I think you're along the right lines with the hickory shafted ladies left handed clubs .... I was gonna suggest that you give him some dud lines on the blind tee shots (which he did to me allegedly), but seeing as how you don't know the course either.... I'd settle for coughing fits on the greens and as you say when all else fails a good root in the gonads .. btw inspect his golfing attire before hand .. he pulled out a cast off from the set of Miami Vice last time out with me and Kilted... it's a golfing version of snow blindness.

If all that fails, just sit back and hand over yer hard earned cash, because in as much as I disagree with his mindgames, he has a certain charm to him and he always says thanks when you had over the greenbacks. Have a great time, and plenty of pics required .... you are allowed poetic licence and adobe photoshop in capturing the Waggly Ones odyssey to the Lone Star
