Par 6 at Augusta?!?!?

I got a glimpse at the news this afternoon and they were talking about a Par 6 on the back nine of Augusta?? Is this true? Has anyone heard of this?

Yeah dead wrong:biglol: . I'm pretty sure there's no par 6 but they have lengthened some of the holes to further fit Tigers' standards.

A par six at Augusta National will never happen. They are very traditional there, and things like par six holes are a gimmick generally used by new resort type courses. There are several around the world, but never at the home of the Masters. Maybe there is one to be built in Augusta - the town, not the world famous club (this may be a ridiculous idea too, but I'm on the other side of the world, so I don't know).
As SiberianDVM says, a lot of holes at Augusta would be par 6 for "the rest of us". I just wish for the chance.

even if they did put a par 6, would it be lagal by PGA rules. i know that they have a par 6 in Japan but wether it would be legal by the PGA i dont know?

Not sure if this is what you heard but I read an article yesterday that said they were lengthening 6 holes at Augusta by a total of 155 yds. Maybe?
