Thanks for the write up Greg----Looks like a must play. All business with a minimum of eye candy. Gotta love those fast greens. As long as they are true putting will be fun. Not too bad a score. First time on a tuff course.
Par 5 7th hole, you can see the bare ground as a result of all the work going on to get the course ready for the 2011 US Amateur as well as a possible future US Open.
Closer view of the bunkers on that same hole.
Another big bunker
8th holes green, this was a long dogleg left par 4 with the tee shot uphill. No way could I hit the green in 2 so I was forced to layup in front of that middle bunker. This green had a real nasty slope to it
16th hole, a short par 3 that's actually easy if you can keep your drive straight.
One of the bunkers surrounding that hole.
Another view of those same bunkers.
From the 18ths tee box, 620 yards from the tee's I played. Not shown on this pic but directly above the clubhouse you can see the steeples of the Holy Hill monastery. The aiming point is directly between the steeples & the original scorecard had the distance from the back tee's listed at 666 yds. they changed it to 660 yds now.
You love sand traps so this course is right up your alley. It is a very nice course & is only going to get better once all the new grass grows in. And not a single house on the course, just the way a true golf course should be.
