I mentioned this the other day but while my wife and I were Christmas shopping we ended up buying a train to go around our tree. Then my wife got a little carried away and bought a whole village to go with it.
Last night we finally got around to setting it up. At first it just seemed like work because I had to build a platform for it all to go on. But once I got the train set up something wierd happened. I enjoyed playing with the train.
The whole time we're talking about how much our grandson is gonna like it but we both knew this was our new toy. We set up the village with lights in the buildings and even a road from one side of the tree to the other. You gotta have a way to get to the skating rink right?
Anyway, by this morning we were going through the Lionel catalog looking for accessories and things we'll probably add on next year. This thing's gonna take up a whole wall by next Christmas.
It reminds me of a banner I saw at a birthday party a few years ago. The birthday "girl" was turning 70 and the banner read, "It's never too late to have a happy childhood". Good advice I think.
