I supposedly sold my G5 irons to someone local but now I received a check for $1450 from New York. I was asking $230 for the irons. I'm not cashing this check. Please read the e-mail conversation and let me know what this guy is trying to pull. He could go to a local golf store and buy a new set of irons for less then this money. Start at the bottom and go up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Benjamin,
I just received a check from Clothing Store LLC for $1450. Is this from you? And if so why so much? The information on the check is D & D Enterprises. I am not going to cash this. Something is wrong. I believed I was selling to local.

Hello , i have forwarded the information to my secretary to issue the
check payment in your name and your favor, i would have handle it
myself but since i wasn't around and away for the naming ceremony, as
soon as you got the check and clear to your account then my mover will
come to your location for the pick up of the item and i want you to
consider the item as sold to me and withdraw it from advert , I happy
you are selling to me, payment has been issued out to you and sent to
you via UPS POSTAL SERVICE and been drop off at the post office will
deliver to you by Friday morning , I will email you with the tracking
number for confirmation soon. I will also like to let you know that
mover fund was included with your
payment due to absence as i have told you, Once you receive the
payment , you will go ahead and have the check deposit then you deduct
the money for your item with additional $30 for your Gas and running
around as i promised, then you have the rest of the money send to my
mover then i will contact the mover to get ready to come over for pick
up immediately as i also have other items to be pick up around. LET ME
KNOW IF I CAN trust you in this transaction.

Hope to hear back from you soon and thanks for your understanding

What happens: You cash the check, his "mover" comes to pick up the remainder, your bank (in a few days) tells you it's not legit and you're on the hook for all $1,450, meanwhile the crooks made off with $1,190.

Report the scam to the police.

Or, tell them you cashed it and have the "mover" meet you (and a friend or better yet a cop) in a public place. Give the mover $1,190 Monopoly dollars. Tell him to get Fucked.

Oh, and RECORD the whole thing.

Typical craigslist scam. I was selling a pool table the first time I got one of these. Dude wanted to send me $2K extra (secretary made an 'error' when printing the check), have his guy come and pick up and then me hand the extra $2k to the dude picking it up in cash. I recognized it right away and fucked with the guy for about a week, exchanging emails and encouraging him with alternative plans - had him thinking I was falling for it. I finally told him I worked for the FBI and some goons would be crashing thru his front door in 5 minutes. Never heard another peep

P.S. Next time cash the check. ;)

Need to get the Last Tee fraud unit on this. We do not tolerate Geezers getting scammed...

Well, this all started with the guy going to meet me for the money/club exchange like I expected. Then he started up with the cloak and dagger "mission impossible" stuff and I smelled a rat. I never expected him to send a check. I guess he is dumber then I am. Started doing my own research after this guy started texting me. The cell phone number he was texting from was from India!!!
