Lets share all our pre shot routines, maybe improve our own with tips from others. Here is mine:

1.Tighten strap on my glove
2.Look at where I wanna hit the shot
3.Take two practice swinngs behind the club
4.Draw a line from my target back to my ball then pick something out of my target line around 2 inches in front of my ball
5.Set up my stance have few wiggles of the club head and swing.
6.If hit bad shot tell myself how *&^$ it was for the first ten yards of my walk then once past that 10 yard line forget about it, it never happened!!! Start focusing for my next shot.

And yours???

Put club behind ball, in address position.

"Manicure" ball position, by removing any sticks, grass, stones etc. which may impede take away.

Practice swing, swinging over the ball.

Think about where I want the ball to go.

Get my retriever out, to fetch the ball from the water.

1. Select club at random (Higher numbers go farther, right?)
2. Address the ball ("Ball, go TOWARD the HOLE, not the next fairway!!!)
3. Swing with all my might.
4. Walk ten yards and repeat.

Just kidding.

My shot routine is very simple.

1. Address the ball a couple inches away from my normal address.
2. One practice swing.
3. Address the ball and aim my toes at the intended line.
4. Think about staying down on the ball.
5. Swing.

Check wind, lie, etc., while putting my glove on. I always take my glove off after every shot.
(I'm getting ready to play a shot)

Carefully take my left hand grip.
A technical move - trying to be repeatable)

Stand behind ball, pick landing spot, mentally draw a line back to a spot about a foot in front of the ball.
(Alignment is critical)

Tap club on grounds.
(OK - It's time to play)

Place right hand carefully into postion. Adjust grip pressure. Align clubhead with spot in front of ball. Take stance. I don't have a right-foot, left-foot routine - I just step in and get comfortable. Looking back and forth between target and ball.
(Settling into the shot now....)

Step back a little and take a rehearsal swing or two, trying to feel a free shoulder turn to a full follow-through. Step back into the ball.
(Staying relaxed)

Get a little athletic tension built. Arms in, shoulders back, chin up, weight on the balls of my feet, and butt out a little to straighten my spine some. I don't get tense, I just want to feel "poised to strike".
(Focusing on posture and getting ready to go)

Preset my right knee a little. I try to feel like I'm winding my right thigh up a little.
(Another technical move, as I tend to sway)

Look at the target once more, then focus on the ball and swing away.
(Leave no time for extra thoughts)

No routine just pick the club out the bag, stand over it and hit it.

That IS a routine.

Stand behind ball facing target.
One easy practice swing.
Point club at target.
Walk to ball, tap club on ground once
Address ball.
Look at target.
Waggle once.
Knock it OB.

I definitely think a pre-shot routine is crucial to helping you get into the right state of mind, so here's mine:

1. Decide what shot to play, and pick out club accordingly.

2. Take a few quick swings before I line up for the ball, just to get into the rythm.

3. Align myself to the target, and check my grip and stance.

4. Then, shut out everything els in my mind by focusing only on the ball, and then swing.

That's it.

All crap aside. After playing today, I don't take enough time in my stance
to follow through with my swing. Which is aggravating when it comes down to it. Carry on I will let the real golfers get back too talking.:)

My pre-shot routine:

1. Place ball on tee... then replace as it topples off onto the turf.
2. Take a swig of beer, then a couple puffs on my cigarette.
3. Select proper club.
4. Address the ball, then slacken and adjust my grip.
5. Tap the ground a couple times with the head of the club.
6. Slacken and adjust my grip, then adjust posture.
7. Take my swing and either skull, shank or slice the ball.
8. Immediately reflect on why it is that I enjoy this game so much.
9. Proceed to where the ball landed and do it all over again (well, except for re-teeing).
