The difference between a normal driver and an offset driver is that the clubface of the offset driver is moved back about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. That's it. So, can you tell me what would happen if you just move the "ball", that same distance "forward" in your stance, when you set up. I THINK YOU'D HAVE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING, AND NOT HAVE TO SPEND MONEY ON A NEW DRIVER. The idea of moving the clubface back is to allow you more time to square the clubface. Well, moving the ball forward the same distance, will give you the exact same increase in time, at no cost to your wallet.
Or as someone else posted, a lesson will solve the problem also.
Thanks guys, that is what I was thinking about the lesson as well
as where the ball is placed. I have been getting back into golf the last 2
years so I'm playing catch up on some of this stuff.
Is there a big difference between a Taylormade and Ping. In general I mean.
You would use offset if you neither have the time nor inclination to try and solve the problem of hitting the ball to low and right..Its a method of increasing loft and helping to square the face for those that can't do it any other way.If you want to improve technically then lessons would be a better investment.
