Slingblade what are "user groups" and "public groups", they are in the profiles on most forums but know one ever seems to be in them, are they just for show?

User groups are catagory's with various board permissions set for each.

are all user groups
I don't know about public groups.

Thank you I have always wondered about this, but click on someones profile and it syas public groups here on ST, it probably is just the same though.
