It's been 20 or better for the last week here. Today was about 26. Beautiful weather considering the crappy summer we had.

Hope it keeps up. Might go out Monday, but we'll see. Shot 63 on Tuesday, might be a good idea to end the season on a good note!

But the course does beckon....

I hate to play devil's advocate here, but I think you should sit on that 63. Knowing the game of golf, you can go from extreme high to extreme low in a heartbeat.

Well, got my TA1's yesterday, and went to the range this morning, i was doing ok i suppose, i think i lost at least two clubs in distance to begin with, then near the bottom of my bucket, i took whoever's advice it was and just started pounding my 7 iron long and straight, a good confidence builder, i had quite a few hooks, so i'm going to take my clubs to the place and see if they need to be bent.

btw, rock you should go out and play, that way if you shoot horrible you have motivation to work hard all winter.

It's funny. I was playing horrifically on the back nine yesterday, so I decided to play the last three holes with a gap wedge. Although I can say it was good practice, it grew pretty old halfway through the second hole.

It's all about the 7 iron. If you can par in with a 7 iron, you're golden.

I hate my gap wedge. I only use when i have to. He and I don't see eye to eye. I hit it well, but i think it laughs at me when i come up short with my 60* wedge.

Bastard gap.

I was raking the leaves in the backyard today and a squirrel ran through the yard. It was pretty slow, didn't even care that I was within reach of hammering him with the rake. I just kept thinking to myself "I wonder if the squirrel knows the one that stole a ball from me last summer...."

True story.

at the range, i kept hooking quite a few, is that the 2 degrees upright speaking?

btw, i was putting pretty good , it was either in, or too far, when it was far, it was really far, i need to work on my distance control

I think the hook is you bringing your hands through too quickly. The upright shouldn't have much to do with it.

Were you using non offset clubs before?

Before i was using TM supersteels, i guess they have some offset, are you saying that i need to slow my hands down?

I'm saying that before you make any swing changes, hit more balls. You can't expect to hit a new set of clubs perfectly the first time out. They'll take some getting used to.

But yes, hooks are caused simply by bring your hands through too quickly and being "over the top".

If you play baseball, you'll understand what I mean. You know when you get an inside pitch down low and you want to pull it into left? (if you're right handed) You get your hands through and turn them over to get on top of the ball and rip it into left. If you leave your hands open, you pop the ball up. This is pretty much the recipe for a huge slice as well.

But, if you have your hands too quick, you pull the ball foul because it has so much top spin/hook spin.

Just hit some more balls. It will come. Don't concentrate on your hands, just focus on making good contact. The rest will follow. Trust me.

well all my divots were very deep near the heel, is that still the fast hands

That wouldn't have anything to do with the upright clubs. Although, it would be wise to get them bent to standard, or whatever your playing lie is, but standard would be fine.

The heel divot. Tough to say. Sometimes it's from too steep an attack angle. And with fast hands, your digging your own grave, so to speak. Try more of a sweeping swing until you become comfortable with the new clubs. More of trying to just "crisp" the grass as you take the ball. As you become more and more comfortable, then start the attack move. You'll see your swing progress into a divot machine. Remember, divots are essential to good golf.

I'd still hit a few more buckets (Like 10 or 15) before jumping on the "I need to change my swing" bandwagon. If anything, get your clubs to standard before doing so. That way, you're not making change after change after change and end up corkscrewing yourself right into the ground.

Get those clubs standard and hit the range. After 10 buckets, let's talk. :thumbup:

I agree, before making any major overhaul, try changing some simple things, like place your hands a little less forward, or putting the ball slightly more to the left.
