Hey everyone! I am (was) a 1 handicap who just took about 3 months away from golf because of school. When I cam back i couldn't believe it, I am shanking everything. My swing kind of resembles sergio's in that I hinge my wrists more on the way down than I do on the way back. I cannot seem to fix it at all and it is really killing me. Any tips would be very appreciated. Thanks!!

Thing is when I hit 3/4 shots I am fine. I can't make full swings without having it happen though. When I hit the driver it is off the extreme heel. And with the irons I shank them.

Seems to have worked for me. Feels like you are too close to the ball at first, but give it a go.

I can only tell you what worked for me wehn I had my obligatory period of shanking which went on for a few weeks. I tried everything that I was told by absolutely anyone in desperation (even listened to people who could barely hit a ball themselves!).

Nothing worked, so I realised I had to think my way out of it. I felt like I was doing my normal swing and it looked fairly normal to my friends so I knew it was something fairly subtle that had changed. Anyway (I'm getting to the point honest!), I just played with a 3/4 swing for a couple of weeks and that fixed it up a treat as I eased my way back up to a full swing when I felt confident.

I've got to admit that I've neevr known such a low handicapper have a prolonged bout of shanks before, must be agony!

I too went through this for about 3 rounds, extremely frustrating.......I got away from those "things" (I can't bring myself to type that word) by telling myself to swing a bit faster and to make sure I follow through, but that was for me, may not work for others. Good luck!
