Also I'm doing a pretty crappy job of sharpening these grooves, most of them were gone, like smooth gone. Considering taking a dremel with a thin cutting wheel and giving that a go.

Uh..no. end mill bit in a drill press with the head sitting in a jig that slides maybe.

I'm just going to ask because I never can tell with you...

That's a joke, right?
I think in theory it could work. It would keep the depth and lines in alignment. The sharpener is not really doing what I want it to, I pretty mush have to cut new grooves. Do you think the Dremel is worth a try???

Dremel makes a holder that looks like a jig saw when its set up. The foot clearance near the hosel is the thing that could be the problem. Some straight edge material to run the device along to keep it true is a good idea.

The jigsaw version is called a Trio.

I have a diamond wheel on my regular dremel and it would do a good job but I bet it would scoot out of the track and scratch the face and I dont know how one would preserve a depth setting.
