If people are interested email me with your the following info:

Username, Country, Course slope and rating, and teh par the of course you play.

If you play differnet courses dont worry about teh course info just your name and country so I can get a total fort each team. Idealy the teams should have eqaul players, so I will have to some how adjust for and major difference in the team sizes.

My email address is in my profile. However it woudl be better if you emailed my @ [email protected]. SO i dont accidentally delete your messages from my hotmail account. When I revice your email I'll add you to my contact list for this thing, and email you a copy of the spread sheet that will be used.

Thanks.

Also I have volunteered to run thsi thing. I'll need some help though, I get kinda busy and won;t be able to check in on things sometimes. Anyone interested, I was think bravo since he is a moderator here, or bdcrowe as he has web skills?

Let me know.

Mahal... Go ahead and add me. My email is bd-crowe(at)comcast(dot)net.

If sling wants to host this thing, and he has a mysql db available, I'd be happy to write the code for a web frontend that will manage this for us. Each of us could just enter our round, have the page figure the index of the round and update the db for that round. A seperate page could then retrieve the rounds by player and team and average the team rounds for overall team standings. One downfall in this way is that it will be a little more complicated to have the first page (to enter individual rounds) aware of how many rounds that player has entered without a bunch of postbacks tying up the server. So, it will be a more complicated thing to figure a different index depending on # of rounds played.

Or, we could just send the rounds in to you and/or the backup to enter them into your nifty spreadsheet and do it that way.

Sounds cool, sling. Thanks. I've seen the light. PHP rules. MySQL is the bomb. And Microsoft just pays the bills. :)

If we go through the "pains" of writing this, we can keep it around to keep up with these type things and have virtual tourneys fairly often. (Can you say "Shot Talk World Golf League?) Who knows, we may even grow it into a section of the site to keep up with recreational handis, personal scoring stats that are tied to improvement tips, etc... I could see it as a potential service to grow shot talk, similar to what TGC has on their site.

For now tho I'll try to start on the pages to figure indexed round scores and team scores. Is that OK Mahal? I don't want to steal the thunder of the spreadsheet when that is a very viable alternative.

Can we use the spread sheet in the program?

I think if Mals spread will work with your web front end that would be way cool. :)

That would definitely be the easiest way to do it. I'm not sure if php have any Excel controls. I can check. I don't guess you're set up for asp and frontpage extensions? That might would make it a bit more realistic.

Is there a time frame for when this has to start? I mean, i'm hooped til April/May.

I'll provide my info tho if needed.

I can also re-create rounds in my basement. I feel some great birdies coming on.... ;)

Yah. This is starting to sound like Besson's rules thread with TM...

That's a good question, tho. When are we wanting to start this? Because I will be programming the needed pages ad-hock between work and other responsibilities. So, it won't be by the weekend. (Unless Sling gets me priveleges to upload and monkey with a DB quick-like. ;))

Also, I want pay-off for the coding time, and that pay-off is a rule. The American team can only post rounds played in nickers. J/K I'm looking forward to the coding. Man, I'm a geek........
