Should I invest in lessons?

Hate to be the negative one of the bunch, but I wager lessons won't help at all!Shooting a 96 3 months in is not too shabby. You may have potential!
Those high scores are just part of the game right now.
I'd suggest picking up golf magazines, watching it on T.V. and practice ALOT.
Generally, practice your putting, chipping, half wedges and look at the fold out sequences of pro golfers. You can use these to aid with mirror work for swings from both the front and behind.
Either way, trying to get good with or without help is never easy and sometimes frustrating!
