Well, I bought myself a inside approach well come to find out I do not come over the top with my clubs. By the way i only paid 8 bux for it so no worries , What I am doing is this, I can NOT get my freaking hands to turn over to square the club up with the driver it makes no sense That i can do it with the irons but not the damn driver and long Irons. So i tryed to shorted my backswing so I dont have that long of a swing so i can square up my hands well, That didnt work either EVEN turning my left hand to the right for 30 yards of hook and offsetting my driver i STILL PUSh the ball right . Besides seeing a pro for right now is there anything that i can drill on range ?

I shot a 117 today at a new course in cottondale Florida which was nice And i made a nice cartpath chip in which was nice and i had a 25 feet putt with a MEGA break left around someone's ball which was nice also .

I can give you something to get the feel of rolling over.

Grip the shaft with your left hand as you normally would.

With your right hand, grip the shaft just below the grip.

Looks weird, feels weird.

Now swing the club, swing it normally or like a baseball bat, it doesn't matter. You WILL be rolling the wrists over.

I do this several times to warm up and get the feel in my memory.

Now execution is another matter. ;)

Sad part is That is how i practice and its not working. I just CAN NOT get my club to square up to the ball. ITs like on the downswing my club doesnt turn back to the starting point, ITs like when i open the face for the backswing it stays in that position on the downswing and its a STRAIGHT push to the right or a HIGH slice . WHen i tryed to force my hands to turn i Hit it right on the hossel and it goes rolling on the ground to my left where all my buddies are standing laughing

Well, For anyone that knows how to fix this problem, I video taped my swing hitting a ball, I'am bringing the hossel around first and as someone put it in another one of my threads they called that a hossel rocket . I cant for the life of me seem to bring the dang club head back to square after the downswing. So now I"am playing golf with a hafe swing doing around 160 210 with my driver granny hitting it with a slight fade again. I guess i can live with this for now.

180 yards down the middle is better than 250 deep in the crap.

Borrowing this from another poster but, on an average par four...drive, iron, wedge, 2-putt. that's a bogey and if you play bogey golf you'll have a <20 handicap in no time.

Don't set your sights too high to start with...play within your abilities...

why open the face for the backswing? think of it as trying to keep the face square as long as possible during the swing, i've done this and am hitting the best drives of my life

Well, I dont mean like i open it for the backswing/downswing It just seem to go way way open on the downswing and the hossel always comes first, I did the powder trick to my club 8/10 hits were off the heel/hossel . The only thing i can think of is i'am opening the club face on the downswing and not being able to roll my wrist over for the impact .

On the downswing, imagine you are reaching (with your right hand) to shake hands with someone standing on your left.

Great advice, Gun. This is totally the way to get out of a funk. Keep the face strong all the way back, it keeps you on the plane you need to be.

It's just a little tougher to get a full powerful turn this way. You may sacrifice some distance which probably isn't a bad thing.

Check to see if you are pulling the club slightly inside on the take away. If you are your elbow will be slightly behind your body and your body will force the club a little outside. If you are in this position you will not be able to turn your hands over creating a block to the right.

True.

It's funny how much you can dwell on something that is really just a hitch or a timing mechanism for individual technique. Harvey Penick wrote that your swing only matters where the face of the club meets the ball. Everything else is pretty much worthless. Look at guys like Furyk, DiMarco, Chi Chi, ect. They have unorthidox swings that work just fine because they put the clubhead on the ball. The smooth swing is just eye candy, as ultimately you getting that face square can be an adventure, but it's the most important aspect of the swing.

Food for thought. ;)

Rock - you're starting to sound like one of AJ Bonar's groupies... get off the cool aid man!!! Traditionalists like you and me are all about the golf swing and reaching for that unattainable "perfect" swing... ah... Nirvana...

if i'm loosing distance doing this then i need to fix it then hit the long drive competitions,

i played in my second tournament of the series, overall, played terrible, horrible more like it, but hit the last three fairways with an average of 295 as my distance one 290 uphill into the wind, other was 310 downhill and the other 295 flat

story of the tournament was early, couldn't keep a drive in play
late, couldn't hit an iron or wedge to save my life,

whole time short game was just terrible (totally uncharacteristic of me)

putted decent

i'll build on the last three drives, really captured how i hit them, remember everything about them, so i think i can really learn from this ... gonna have to work on the irons and short game, maybe its time for an overhaul.

headed to colorado for a week, gonna do a campus visit then play some golf and just chill up there in a cabin

Watch those distances in colorado. If you are on some elevated tee boxes the ball goes forever LOL.

Enjoy your trip.
