Well, just came back from Kapalua. Well, in a simulator anyways.

Shot +7 with 3 foot gimme putts. Take that for what it's worth.

The driver was working in my hands, but on screen it didn't register at all. At one point, I put some tape on the face to see where I was hitting it. Even when I flushed one, it still went haywire. Still averaged 269 off the tee, not bad for a Canadian kid in March.

Hammering the irons. Big time. I hit one thin 4 iron in warm up, but I was puring the rest of the time. Perfect. So far so good with the forged set.

Chipping is there too. I give full credit to the net downstairs for that. I could chip better one handed this year over last year. 100% improvement, by far.

Putting is there too. It's hard to say in a simulator, but my head is in the game for putting, which is great. It usually takes me 2 weeks in the spring to get into mental shape.

I wish i could figured out that driver. All the fairways worked well, it just didn't register the driver. I did hit a 325 yard bomb swinging out of my boots at one in frustration.

Overall? I'll give myself an 8.5 out of 10 for this being the first "round" of the year. And, after all, it was in Hawaii too.... :p

Ya, maybe. If this weather holds up, I just might have to.

Bastards.

On a high note, the girl working the till was extremely attractive. :)

+7 seems good even on a simulator. Looks like the blades have found a permanent home. Is the cost similar to green fees?

It's 20 bucks an hour no matter how many play. So, if you have just two of you, you can get 18 done in about 2 hours with some warm up (they have a driving range and practice program which is really great....shows ball speed, trajectory on screen, spin rate, everything....really good for stats...)

Now, if you have 4 guys, that's more time, so you end up paying less per hour, but it takes longer. So there are pros and cons.

We also had the gimme rule set up which really helps with time and strokes. No wind either since it was our first time.

I just wish the driver would have registered better.

Anyone have any theories why the driver just sucked even if you hammered one on the screws?

One of the guys at Golfsmith told me the simulators just work better for irons. That's as technical as his answer got so who knows.

I have no idea why, but I have noticed woods on the simulator suck. You'd think they would register longer instead of mostly shorter distances, since they use this simulator to try and sell you drivers, eh?

Ok, so at least i'm not on crack. Well, sorta.

It felt like when I'd crush one, there was a delay in the info. And i'd be carrying drivers like 125 yards with 100 yards of roll. Uh, right.

But, with a 7 wood, it was perfect. A nice smooth 7 wood is about 210 for me. Worked like a charm.

This system seemed pretty decent too, which suprised me when the drivers sucked toilet.

Go figure.

lol. I've never played a full round on one. Just "demoed" clubs into them. I need one for home.

I shot +1 at Pebble from the backs.

I did too the second time I played it. I play a draw, and would aim a bit right, and every time the "game" would pick it up as a fade. So, I just took the same swing I always do, but aimed the target 3 clicks left. Center cut every time.

It is just a video game afterall. I like to play them once or twice a winter just to get a few swings in. It's a lot more fun than golf domes, but I prefer I/O ranges so you can actually practice shots.
