Well, it was about a month ago that I first broke 100. Went out tonight and golfed 95. Best score for me. I was pretty happy with my round. If I could learn to hit my long irons a little better, I may be able to sniff 90. I know patience...but things are starting to get better.

I'm good with irons (comparatively speaking of course) but when it comes to driving I have no consistency at all! It's truely terrible..I'm going to have to go get some lessons, perhaps you should do the same?

From what I've read it's patience, persistence and practice. Patience is the toughest I think. Good job breaking 100, hang in there and 90 will happen.

Yes, lessons are in my future, but I think I'm going to wait until next spring. I'm up here in SD, so the playing season is nearing its end.

Utilize the driving range, if not just to get a consistent swing. Try to play your irons without moving your lower body AT ALL. You might not get amazing distance, but you'll get consistency.

Also, don't try to hit the green on every shot. If you can get on the green with 1 or 2 strokes left for par, that's wonderful. And you have plenty of time to do that, even if you're not the best golfer in the world. A bogey here and there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Just think of the game as you're playing it. Anticipate the shot you'll have to hit should you mis-hit the one you're making now. If you go for the fairway instead of trying to clear an OB heavy-rough area, and miss, you'll still be alright, prolly. Hit the OB shot too short, and you're in deep doo-doo.

Also, if you have the choice to warm up on the driving range or putting green, go putting green every time. You should still have a few minutes to swing a driver or low iron to loosen up. But remember, putting will make-or-break your game.
