for 8 months now. never in my dreams would i have thought this sport would be so much fun and challenging...never thought i would have the patience for this...but i manage. anyways so i picked up this sport 8 months ago...had a couple of golf lessons from a PGA teacher which helped me out a lot...he got me before I had some bad habits set in.
my question is about my progress. i hit around 100-107 on average. Is this ok for someone who has been playing only 8 months? is this about average for someone new? my goal currently is getting the score under 100 lol

G,

Don't worry about measuring yourself against someone else's game. People progress at different rates. You'll find guys/gals that play the game for 6 months and they're shooting in the low 80s while some guys play their whole lives shooting triple digits.

If you keep practicing and commit yourself to the game, you'll find your scores getting better and better. Sure, you're going to have a poor round once in a while, but don't let that discourage you. Just keep at it and you'll be having fun and shooting well at the same time!

Good luck in your quest!

If you're finding Rockford's post difficult to understand it's because he's Canadian.

Please allow me to interpret.

Get out while you still can. Golf is more addictive than cocaine and before you know it you'll be taking food from children just to buy balls and green fees. It's the most cruel of all sports and we only come here hoping for a little comfort.

Other than that it's a great game. :p

Welcome to the game of golf, Grungels. Golf is the most frustrating game ever invented by a bunch of drunk sheep herders, bored out of their minds. My heart felt condolences to you and your family, assuming you still have a family that's talking to you now. :miz:

I plan to be stealing from my son's college fund to support my habit. He is off to college next year. As far as the food goes though it will be cheaper to keep him in College than to keep him at home. They have monthly meal tickets that cost 340 bucks. He is 6'1" and 230 lbs. and they are getting the short end of that deal.
