Source and price for decent used clubs in South Africa

I'm not a golfer and don't know anything about clubs. Someone I know in SA, needs a decent set of used clubs. He was forced to leave his mixed set in the US. He was asking about shipping them over, but that might not be as cost effective as just buying a used set there. If that's not the case, does anyone know the cheapest way to ship his set? Speed isn't a factor.

Most of his clubs are Nike VRS Covert 3-9 and random others like: Cobra II, Pro valet, Gary Player and Talyor made,

what is the cost of shipping his clubs to SA - decent used clubs in SA can range from R5 500 ($330) to R20 000 ($1200). might be cheaper to ship his clubs over to SA?

So far, quotes are something crazy like $2500. I believe that's because they are sending it air mail vs on a cargo ship.

which area, town/province is your friend staying in? what the budget?

there are many places or people that sell 2nd hand equipment, but with all the scams these days one has to be super careful not to loose any money.
