Some say strectches are for fags I would tend to disagree, they are vital in the game of golf.

I stretch before most rounds and it helps greately I have many different effective drills which work my favourite being Back rotation standing, slowly rotate your upper body with a club in hand to one side as far as comfortably able. While keeping feet flat on the ground, hold then slowly rotate in the opposite direction.

Other good ones I use are

Back extension
Truck side bending
Quad/Thigh Stretch

Does anyone else always streatch and what strecthes do they do?

Flexiblity will help your game and keep your back loose. It's been said lately that there is no scientific proof that stretching will reduce the risk of injury. I have two kids so my time on the course is limited, I'm lucky if I can get to the course to hit a warm up bucket but I got a cool golf stretching tool that I use in my front yard before I leave. My scores reflect especially on the fron nine. I don't work for this company I just think it's helped me.

I saw the booth a few years ago at the Jeld Wen tournament. Hale Irwin had bought one the day before and was telling the owner how great it was. I took the bait and I love it.

Stretching Before A Round

I stretch before a round. I stretch into the trunk to get my clubs out, my shoes out,, stretch down to do my shoes up.

Go over to the range, suck back a can of Diet Pepsi and a couple of smokes. Might hit a few balls if I can steal some off my buddy or someone left some laying there.

Stretch some bullshit with the boys on the range, stretch down and pick up all the tees everyone leaves laying around the range tee boxes.

Slink over to the first tee, stretch my glove on. Reach into my bag, to get a new NXT out, so I stretched to do that. Go to tee box, stretch my back to put the tee in, stand up and paste my first drive down the centre. Stretch my shoulders when I put my double strap bag on. Stretch my legs as I walk 280+ to where I hit my 2nd shot from.

So yah, stretching is good for your game!

Oh I almost forgot, I stretch down to pick my ball out of the hole after one putting for an opening birdie!:)

Do you have a good gym closeby? I am doing a golf workout now that includes quite a bit of stairmaster etc...

There is a weight machine that would be fantastic for you. It is about 8 feet tall with stacks of weights on both sides. Cable runs from weight stack up through a pulley at the top...

The end of the cable has a ring - to which you can attach a variety of handles etc.

One of the handles is shaped like the end of a golf club....

You put a stack of weight of about 12.5 KG on there and start in a position as if you are in the bottom of your swing. And you taaaaake the club back to the top - 15 times. It really strengthens your lower back and takeaway muscles.

For you pursuing the game - you might want to find one of these...

Yeah I go to the gym one a week trying to get there 2-3 hopefully soon, I have used that thing you are talking about before it is good for building shoulder and lower body strength, good for the muscle memory.

What I mainly concentrate on is building wrsit and lower arm strength I think this is really important I don't lift heavy weights usually 15lb dumells, this gives you more strength and prevents wrist injurie.

I always stretch before every round. I am not sure what the stretches are called but I have a few that I do.
