Noooo, not your thoughts about who will win. What are your thoughts about Superbowl food. It's been several years since I cared (Packers) who won so the food is the only really important decisions.

A new pizza place opened last week and because of where I live that's a big deal. If it's any good, pizza will be on the menu. My other weaksness is buffalo wings. I love wings and now that we can buy Hooters sauce at the grocery I'll be making those as well.

We plan on pigging out that day so I'd appreciate any other great food ideas you guys have. Bon Appetit. :)

The Super Bowl is all about ribs. Baby back ribs.

Any style is fine, as long as there are lots of them.

I make outstanding "greek style" ribs. I have it down to an art.

I have a good rib story...

Down in the Deep South - barbeque is done with pork. Although beef is available somewhat - to a Southerner when you are going to make BBQ - you for for the pig - not the cow.

I moved to San Antonio where it is the opposite. Cow - not pig.

I mean with 14,940,230,303,343 cows in the Republic of Texas - ya just gotta eat a few of them!!

On the other hand, the pig is sweeter than the cow and this is what i am used to.

So for Memorial Day weekend 2000 - I wanted some babyback pork ribs. I know how to cook ribs and went to my local HEB grocery store to pick up three slabs.

Unavailable - and as a matter of fact the butcher looked at me funny. Told me he had beef ribs and held up a huge, massive slab of beef ribs.

No thanks. I am looking for those sweet, tender pork spareribs.

Finally, I located a store on San Antonio's South side (Hispanic) and bought three slabs of pork spares.

Took em home and smoked them with some authentic South Texas mesquite in my New Branfels cooker. My method only takes 90 minutes. I learned it from the owner of the world famous Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa Alabama. How to cook a slab in 90 minutes...

I invited my neighbors over. I had already cut the slab down into individual ribs that were just ready to eat.

They went Effing Wild!!!

"OH MY GAWD....these are great ribs!!!"

That's when I told them that real BBQ ribs are from the pig......

Bravo, we use the same cooker. I also do pork when I do ribs and usually get them at Sams, vacuum packed.

If you haven't already, try apple wood with ribs. It gives a milder smoke flavor that I think is perfect for the ribs.

I've lived in Texas since 1980 and I've tried beef ribs only once. It's hard to beat a good beef brisket, but for ribs pork is best.

There's a joint around these parts called Tony Roma's. They have all you can eat ribs. When they first moved into town, all i heard was All you Can Eat Ribs.

Ya, Beef ribs. Big deal. If I wanted to eat my shoe, I would.

Ribs come from a pig. If you're starving, you eat beef ribs.

Just like steak comes from a Cow.

My ribs take about an hour. It's all a preparation when it comes to ribs. I'm not much of a slow cooker guy. I like smoked meats (Texas style), but i'm more of a evening BBQ guy. I'm not looking for a nice smoke ring in the meat, i'm looking to eat the meat. Plus, I'd rather have my meat undercooked than over cooked, and there's nothing worse than an oversmoked peice of meat.

No offense to anyone, just how I prefer things.

Go ribs. :D

Spankie:

What you described is awesome. I just finished a fresh greek salad with kalamata olives, feta and pita on the side.

At all times, I keep a quart of hummus in the fridge which the wife gets each week at Costco.

I start each evening with a glass of vodka with soda and olive juice and hummus on wheat thins.....

Amen. My GF eats that garbage all the time. So sick.

When I was a kid, my parents took us once in a while to a buffet near our house. It was cheap and good, exactly what parents with 4 kids needed. Anyways, I ran up to the buffet and couldn't believe my eyes. Macadamia nuts! I loaded my plate while my father laughed and laughed.

When I got back to the table, they were chick peas. So effing sick. He made me eat every one for being such a dolt. Now I'm scarred for life.

"Hummus. It's what you throw out after the party." :D
