someone on another thread mentioned thinking about thier swing as either a straight back and forth motion or a "barn door" motion, what does everyone use, and what does everyone think of either swing,
Tempo, and keep it compact. I think my limberness can get things elongated, so I MUST make sure to compact it every once in a while.
As for the straight back-through or barn door, I think of neither. I think if you try to think straight back and through, then you end up letting your arms get disconnected from your body and you're in trouble. Only Chris Demarco can pull that one off. OTOH, thinking too much around gets you way flat, and your shot dispersions end up all over the place. Think about a 1 piece takeaway and a wide arc and everything else falls into place.
i'm not questioning my own swing here, which is just kicking ass btw, i was just trying to get a general consensus, i consider mine more of a straight back and forth, but i know i can execute both swings, for now i'll stick with my back and forth,
anyone know which one the pros tend to use more, like mike weir, he uses a more of a straight back and forth, can i get an example of who uses a barn door swing?
straight back and forth can cause problems,in a similar way that 'thinking wide' can.Woods swings wide, and kids will try and replicate it,but they will inadvertently forget to cock the wrists
back and forth is ok but dont forget the wrists, far better to focus on shoulder turn imo
rock, if i knew i would tell you, i'm still shocked, but whatever a terrible end to this years' seniors careers, yeah, good point dave, i had that problem but fixed it, had a long range session today and really got my technique down, i think i'm ready for the tournaments. you "moose-humpers" better watch out
