Everyone who swings slower than you is slow. Everyone faster than that is fast. :D.
Seriously though, there are no absolutes. If you look up the major shaft maufacturers (Aldila, Grafalloy, Fujikura, Graphite Designs) or Golfsmith, they should all have swingspeed ratings for their shafts. A flex will give you an indication of slower, R will be moderate, S and X will indicate what is generally considered fast. I think this is as good an indication as any. Someone else may be able to chime in with some speeds off the top of their heads.
I know tour level speeds are like 115mph plus (125+ for the big hitters). That's pretty fast.

If you were to classify it by shaft flexes it would look something like this (in mph):

Ladies: 60 - 70 (Slow)
Seniors 70 - 80 (Moderate)
Regular 80 - 90 (Normal)
Stiff 90 - 100 (Fast)
X Stiff 100 - 110 (Manly)
XX Stiff 110 - 120 (Xtra Manly)
XXX Stiff 120 - 130 (Holy Crap!)
XXXX Stiff 130 - 140 (They're How Big?)
XXXXX Stiff 140 -150 (Jason Zuback)

Didn't mention it in my previous post but HOW you hit the ball is much more important than how fast you hit the ball.

Whe I had my swing speed checked last month, it was 88 mph, on my BEST swing. My lowest was actually 76. I was SO disappointed. :)

What kind of yardage does that mean?...What do you average?

With the supposedly 10.5 degree driver and regular flex shaft, I get a very high ball flight that just dies. A good shot is about 220 yards; one in the sweet spot will get to 250 is I really nut it. :)

With the 12 degree driver and the senior flex shaft, max is about 220 yards.

Last weekend, when I was playing the last hole, I hit 2 drives, 1 with each driver: the balls landed side by side.

What this tells me is: I need a new driver!

For the most part. 1 MPH Swing Speed = 2 1/2 yards with a standard driver.

As there are really no "Standard" drivers, or "Standard" swings, this is not rocket science, but somewhat acurate none the less. Here is a site that you may find insightful as well.

It worked well for my distances.

Mont86; This may not be what you are looking for, but according to everything I have read, 90 percent of golfers have a swing speed of less than 90 MPH. I hope that helps some. Your speed will vary, some by how loose you are, some by how tired you are at the end of the round. When I first swing my driver, my speed is around 85, but as I get more loose, and make some better swings, it slowly goes up and tops out at around 108 MPH. The right shaft in your driver can make a good bit of difference too. If you can find a shaft that un-loads at just the right time, you can gain a few MPH's and a few more yards as well. Proper timeing of your release can make a hugh difference, as will technique.

I got on the monitor at golfsmith when I was on vacation down in CA. Pretty cool rig, tells you your swing speed, ball speed launch angle, spin rate and then scores you. It also estimates you far the ball will travel. It was free to try and I recommend it, especially if you're looking for a certain shaft, head launch combo.

I hope you are not depending on swing speed to pick a golf shaft for your self. The chance that you can get one that is right for you is less the 40%. It is club release timing that determines the shaft you need. early release requires a soft shaft while a late release needs a stiff shaft and all the variations in between. Two players with the same club head speed but with the different release timing need intirely different stiffness shafts. I have fitted afew you strong players with high club head speeds (120 mph +) with "A" flex shaft and seniors and ladies that have 70 to 80 mph swings with "X" shafts with great success.
