I can't quite learn how to stay consistant with a swing that works for me... anyone have any exercises that helps fix this? besides spending countless hours at a driving range... thanks

There honestly isn't any better routine than practice.

I mean, guys like Vijay and Tiger didn't get where they are now with ability alone. They practice like it's going out of style, not to mention weight training and cardio.

As for a routine swing, you can get any number of trainers. They basically create "swing memory" with your body. But, if your timing is off, or you have a bad hitch in your swing, the trainer is only going to engrain this even more.

Long story short, go hit balls and you'll be better for it. Short of that, hit just your wedges and short irons, then putt like crazy (even at home on the carpet is better than nothing).

I carry a wedge around the house like it's my kid. Just having that weight in your hands keeps your touch when you have long stretches of not playing.

I'm not sure if any of this helps your situation, but I can't reiterate how much practice is the ultimate training tool.

You have me beat.

Last year, I averaged about 800 range balls a week, plus putting practice and actual games. Out of those 800ish balls, I might hit 12 drivers. The rest are 7 irons in to my wedges.

If you're practicing 2 hours a day, you're going to learn a swing. And soon you'll find your scores dropping.

Having an epiphany on the range is just fantastic. You hit an 8 iron and "it just works." Then, you adapt that to your 9 and 7, soon enough you have the short irons worked out. It then spreads to your longer irons and soon your fairway woods are straight. Your driver comes around and with practice, the putter is always a 2 putt on every green.

You'll be surprised how quickly your scores go down.

yeah, i've only been really golfin for about a year, and at the beginning of this season i was shooting high 40's to low 50's.. on 9.. which is pretty bad... but now i've been shooting low 40's to high 30's so my score has dropped a lot..

I consider "bogey golf" to be a terrific round for anyone, young or old. Golf is a tough game to master if you don't put time in, and many people can't.

If you're shooting high 30's to low 40's on 9 after playing for just over a year, you have nothing to worry about.

Keep at it! :)
