Hi guys,

Just wonderin' what sort of tees you all use when teeing it up to hit 'the big dawg' ? I have been using those Lift Tees for the majority of the summer, swopping between using the 2 3/4 inch standard long type & the 3 inch step tee in it, too. They come in some nice colours, inc. a deep blue, orange, and pink. Also begun using one of those Brush tees, which I find pretty damn good, too. Sure as heck beats using the long wooden tees as they break almost every time you use them. Useless, imo !!

Chow for now...:)

I like the RipTip tees better than the Brush tees for on the course. But I like the brush tees better for hitting practice drives, as they stay in the ground most of the time and that saves time teeing up the next ball. The problem with the Brush tees on the course is that the ball tends to twist when I let go of it, and I like to align the ball when hitting off a tee. With the RipTip tees, it's not a problem. For what it's worth !

I use the long wooden ones. They're pretty cheap so I it doesn't really bother me if they break.

The wooden ones are free where I play, no need to go with any others.
I'm not convinced that the brush type tees really make any difference.

When i traded my sun mountain golf bag for the Titleist bag i had some money left over so i got 1dozen balls and a pack of Epoch 3" tees. I wouldnt have got them otherwise. Im not sure if they realy do what is clamed, but they never break and dont hurt my game so ill use them untile they are gone.

Epoch and orange wood for tour 'burns' on the ball to impress impressionable people with.

I use regular length standard white tees.

If anyone thinks using longer tees helps them hit the ball farther or better is a moron.

I'll put up my driver as collateral saying that you can hit the bal just as far with a long tee as a standard one.

Unless the tee box is cut to Oakmont status grass, you're gonna hit the ball on the sweet spot with a standard tee.

This is something my friends and I argue every time we golf, yet I hammer it past them almost every drive with standard tees and a larger headed driver......you'd think they'd get it...:D

It may have something to do with the club, yo. I can hit my bud's R7 with a standard length tee, but I need a 3" tee for my Cleveland Launcher 400 (not a 460).

Rock,
Give that offer to the wrong person and you will loose your driver.
Most of the new clubs are geared to hit higher on the face for optimal launch. I center or low face shot could loose you 10-12 yards, not earth shattering but it is a difference.
If you get a flat swing with high tees the person could pick up yardage.

Once again, the tee isn't hitting the ball.

If you use regular tees, just tee the ball at it's highest point. Then, you'll make contact with the clubface at it's proper position.

Out of any of the drivers that i've hit (from a Warbird to the new 460 Launcher), i've never needed a long tee to hit drives that exceed 300 yards.

Agreed, a flat swing will create havoc with a low tee ball position, but again, it's not the tee that's stopping the driver from hitting the ball a long way.

No, mon. I physically can't tee the ball high enough to peek it over the top of the Cleveland with a standard tee. That means I can't hit up on the ball as I swing through it, which means I'm playing it farther back in my stance, which means I lose distance.

Driver loft matters, too. A flatter swing will work better with 12* of loft than with 9*.

'course, if you're swinging at 120 mph, then loft matters less, since the ball will get up off the face faster, and fly higher. For me, swinging at 95 mph or so, it most definitely matters.

I have a Launcher 400 and will use both standard or 2 3/4 inch tees. It doesn't really matter.

I'm with Rock, the extra long scaffold are uneccessary, standard 2" tees will get the ball to the correct height even for 460 heads
