Someone sent me a link a few weeks ago, I completed a form and sent it to Callaway. Just got an e-mail today telling me I am part of an exclusive group to test the new Tour i(s) and Tour i(z) golf balls, these balls are so new that they are still in their prototype packaging!

OK, cutting quickly through the BS, I find myself (sadly) a bit excited and determined that I give them a good review.

The other ball I am very keen to test is the TM Penta!!

Let me know how those work... I'm very excited to try the Penta to see if it combined everything I'm looking for.

I really like the wedge spin from my IX, and the irons.. I really like the putting of my TM TP Red, and I like the Red for the driver and woods.

Post some pictures and a review of these here when you test 'em out!

I'd like to know if they are more durable than the ix. I really liked that ball but they just didn't last at all.

Funny, I'm a very high spin player and I have no trouble with the IX holding up for multiple rounds. I find that very interesting. Not judging at all, just interested in how some can just shred ball while others can play the same and be fine.

I'm curious as well, as you noted, to see the IZ version and what it holds.

That is a good point... I wonder what it is. It's not like I'm a big power player or hit the ball 4 miles or anything like that. I'm hard on ProV's as well, but they hold up better. Also I'm not talking little scuffs or "orange peel" coming off the ball, cause I keep those in play. Tour ix's I've literally had deep cuts in them where you could pull back the cover and see the insides. I suppose it may be entirely possible that I've just got unlucky with finding some bad balls.

I once broke an HX Tour in a simulator of all things hitting with a driver. I sent them (the sleeve) back to Callaway as the others in the sleeve seemed odd too. They sent me back a dozen HX Tour's and they were completely different in feel and longevity.

Maybe they have some Friday at 4:59pm batches that are dogshit, I dunno.

Ditto. I thought the iX held up well cover wise. Now.. It will look trashed when I play 18 with it, and if it hasn't hit any tree's, or cart path.. If I get into alot of bunkers, I will gash up the cover, but thats expected.

I wanna see how the IZ is.. I bet it's WAY more spin, and softer.

In fairness to Callaway the balls arrived super quick.

Have to laugh at prototype packaging though...

Will report back soon with findings from lab. Here's what they are saying

i (z) is longer and more accurate
i (s) is softer with more greenside control

Boy you watch the interviews and you really get hooked by this shit...
Ballshit!

The I(s) has red numbers?

That's super weak. Consider that out of the equation for me.

Took the i(s) out for a test spin on Saturday. It was my last chance to win a turkey this year. Talk about pressure, putting a bird on the table at Christmas, man is the hunter etc. My wife had actually suggested going out to buy one ffs!!

Anyway after a couple of bogies to begin with, I though here we go again. I then reeled off 5 birdies in 6 holes! And the hole in between I 4 jacked!! Talk about a brain fart! But I stedied the ship and finished off very strongly, getting a realy nice up and down at the last for a par. I ended up breezing round in -1, bagged a bird and life all of a sudden is good.

As for the ball. It was the red one, colour makes no diference to the performance Rock!!

Nice trajectory, felt soft, a lot of nice pitches spinning tight on the 3rd bounce. But I wasn't getting much spin with longer irons in comparison to the Z Star. It felt nice to putt with. But I can't say I noticed any major improvements in length or accuracy

Would I play it again? Meh, not sure. I still think the Z Star and TM would be my preferences. I'll take the i(z) out next, it feels much harder bouncing it on the face of a wedge. Final report when I have played a few more rounds.

I am also a high spin player who is hard on balls, and I found the IX to be one of the most durable balls I've ever played. It is also one of the longest balls I've ever seen, especially off the irons.
