I would like a "Shottalk Picture of the Year" category.

My Nomination: Sling and Hottie
Picture003.jpg

The master of the board, a token hottie, and beer after a round of golf. What else do you need? :D

Cypressperch and limpalong for 'Consistenly long posts'
With gratitude and appreciation, I proudly accept your joint nomination... with cypressperch... for 'Consistently long posts'. Yet, I... for the life of me... cannot comprehend why one was so kind as to nominate me for this. I have tried my best to always keep my posts short and to the point. As you will see from this post, you must be sadly mistaken! Words come very difficult to me. There are days, like today, that it seems almost impossible to voice any feelings or opinions. However...

I found Shot Talk only a short time ago. To receive such an accolade so soon after discovering this great site, astounds me! So, for the award recognizing "The ST poster with the gift to recognize hidden talents of other posters"... I nominate emc.

For recognition as "The ST poster that exemplifies his name and physical condition through his thread titles"... I nominate davebud. Davebud recently started a thread entitled "Haqppy New Year". Whether it was drinking a little too much of the "Bud" that is part of his screen name... or an unfair head start on celebration of the pending new year... or simply a slip of the finger... I have sat silently, mouthing how best to pronounce "Haqppy"!

For recognition as "The most thought provoking first line of a thread... or simply the most PROVOKING first line of a thread"... I nominate dave. When a new thread begins with "All Mizuno owners are peasants...", it is with great anticipation I await the chorus of respondents.

For recognition as "The poster who comes closest to being completely and totally OCD"... I nominate Jayhawk. The thread that got me started on this DB... the thread that stole my silent and secretive virginity... was one on handicaps posted by Jayhawk. Jayhawk has meticulously researched every mathematical relationship possible, comparing handicap with skill level. From degrees of loft and lie to coincidences of bettering handicap numbers, this man is a walking data base. At 60 years old, I hope to learn something new each and every day. I've enjoyed discussing and learning at the feet of Jayhawk.

For recognition as "The poster who makes new members feel at home"... I nominate WBL! Thanks, warbirdlover!!! You've been great and gracious host!

For recognition as "The poster whose kitchen I'd most like to visit"... I nominate ezra! Just today, this devout and dedicated... perhaps a little teched... golfer posts that he heated his putter on the kitchen stove in order to remove the paintfill. Can you imagine his wife walking in to begin preparation of a meal and seeing a putter resting in a skillet on the stove? Or, as she attempts to clean the stove top, finds paint drips on the porcelain? If I ever attempted to roast a putter in our kitchen, I'm afraid of the roasting my 'putter' would meet at the hands of the little lady!!! Ezra, do you run your ProV's through the diswasher?

For recognition as "The poster whose golf shop I'd most like to visit"... it's a tie between Lyle and R35. You see, Lyle gave us photos of his relocated golf shop and I fell in love. But... anyone who recommends acetone for a specific purpose but goes so far as to say he prefers the "Spring Meadow Scent" must have a shop that smells like Victoria's Secret!!! Is that correct, R35?

For recognition as "The poster whose thread most exemplifies us all as human"... I nominate bravo! The brave Bravo, posted the thread "Smelly Canadian Idol". Sometimes we golfers can get pretty wrapped up in ourselves. There can be those associated with this fine game who think their "s*** don't stink"! Bravo's post showed us that regardless of nationality... regardless of gender... flatulance is fact!

For recognition as "The professional golfer I'd most like to emulate"... I nominate Tiger Woods! No, I'll never have that perfect swing... I'll never have those bazillions of bucks... but to have had the fun of attempting (and accomplishing) getting Ms. El preggo.... (Well, can't a nasty ol' man still dream????)

And, there are so many others on this board that are deserving of recognition, but should I continue... someone might get the wrong idea and suggest I offer "consistently long posts". Wouldn't want that, now, would we????

Each and every poster on Shot Talk needs to give himself a pat on the back for the fun we've had in 2006 and count our blessing we woke up in 2007. Let's have a great year, playing this great game!!!!!

Dr. Johnson once wrote of me,

"If length be a virtue, then Cypressperch hath written a masterpiece." No, that must have been Milton that he was writing about. It is with great trepidation that I accept, with Mr. Limpalong, this nomination.

Some of what I have written would fall in the category of fun or jest or some such. If I am writing about the swing, strategy, putting, or whatever, I am trying to help someone with something they are having a problem with. That is when I can really get wordy. Forgive me when that happens, but when it does I am hoping that the extra verbage will result in greater clarity. Even if it does not, I can honestly say that there is a reason for each sentence written.

I will promise all of you this. Given the nature of my posts, you can rest assured that I will never attempt to compete with Ezra, Jeff, Rock, Dave and others for the highest number of posts. I actually have a life other than this formum regardless of how much I do enjoy the forum. I retired with health left in me as planned, and I am five minutes away from a spectacular golf course and one of the best fishing lakes on the planet. And I do owe spending plenty of my time with my great wife who lets me play golf and fish just about any time I want to. And did not complain about the Mizuno MP-67's, wedges and hybrid!

Oh no, it is happening again! Thanks again, Cypressperch

Ezra, do you run your ProV's through the diswasher?

I don't have a dishwasher... She set aside one sponge for dishes and one for my cleaning of mud filled clubs and balls... I honestly have no clue which one is which at this point.

Two sponges at the kitchen sink. One for use on dishes and one for the muddy balls... and you don't know which is which. Hope that dishwashing soap doesn't cause a rash!!!! LOL

Although it is likely more a characteristic of the entire forum and the discussion on here, and a matter of you having a real opinion and being able to support it that I am sure drew you out. I am glad to hear I was at least partially responsible in being able to provoke and incite you into stepping out. I imagine my Username didn't help matters. :)

And I though 13.7 to 6.0 was good!

Most improved is a difficult category to quantify. It's an acknowleged fact that it's far harder to move your handicap down from 10 to 5 than it is from 25 to 20, even though the stroke difference is the same. IMO, going from 13.7 to 6.0 is easily as much of an accomplishment as going from 25.2 to 13.8, although both are huge success stories. I'd call that one a tie. :D
