OK right now online we have a great group of guys. I hope you read this now.

This site really has a chance. I need to post more here and hope you will continue to do so.

We don't have any crums over here and I think our chances of controlling the crap that goes on over there is good here.

I still like GR and will do nothing to hurt it but we have a better chance at getting good posters and importantly - only GOLF and good taste content here.

    Agreed.

However, i don't want this to end up as a black tie affair. Some general ribbing and fun won't hurt.

    Know what i mean? :D

    Agreed.

I will state my concern for gaining new blood in the group.

By this, I mean newbie golfers who have novice questions about the game. Most of us here seem to generally like helping these types out with advice and tips.

What ways can we extend this site to them while still screening out the riff-raff?

I thought about this. Perhaps some "accurately" placed PM's on GR would do the trick. Think you have the "feel" for that Buddha? :D

I spread the word to a few guys, but since i only recognize a few carry over tags from GR, i have no clue if they've come to check it out or not.

Good start this week on the posts by the way. Many of them are perfect examples of what this sites needs to build a great foundation.

Good work guys, especially Sling with all his legwork.

    Hizzah!
    :p

    Replying to both of you...

    1) You can count on me to keep the ribbing going. I've just been in a strange mood lately and for some reason have been on my best behaviour. Just need that little Devil on my shoulder to come alive...

    2) I too enjoy the beginners. Their sincere enthusiasm for the game is endearing. And I like getting the feedback that perhaps in some small way - we helped them enjoy the worlds greatest game.

As to how we attract the kind of posters we want - I am at a loss but am open to any suggestions as I am sure Slingblade would be as well...

Would it be too tacky to selectively PM newcomers over at GR to invite them to check us out? I'm still somewhat new to forum ediquette.

Yep we could definitely do that. But please do not use the forum. In very bad taste...

Maybe I'm just a little thick today but could you clarify "please do use the forum". Are you showing me the door? :p

No I am confirming that PM'ing posters in private - one at a time - is OK.

Posting a Thread - for the entire world to see (literally) is not OK. That site is advertiser-supported and public attempts to lure viewers away would not be treated lightly by their management...Once again - I post at GR and like the site and do not want to Hurt it.

I just want this site (which has better potential as a chat site) to grow and thrive...

I agree with all and am excited about our little nook here. I also agree thatb we shouldn't take the "golf only" additue to an extreme. We need a some sh*ts and giggles by and by. :) Newbies will be an asset. Listen, don't worry about attracting people. As our post counts grow, the search engine spiders will find us, people will hit on us and creep in. Patience will be our ally. We could helps speed the process by registering our site with all the engines manually and using such phrases as "New golfers", "Golf Newbies", "Golf questions", etc...

Absolutely agree. No need to spam.

I like the idea. "Huge natural t--s" or "Lactating Lasses" are some other good examples.

    Buddha, you make me laugh.

I'm going to the grocery store, anyone need anything while i'm out?
