OK, so the long nights have drawn in and I'm a bit bored, so I was thinking of a challenge that people may have some fun with.
We have seen some examples of fantastic ho'ing here on ShotTalk over the last few years. I thought I would dish up a challenge to all you ST'ers out there to show us what you can really do.
The Ultimate 2007 'Ho Challenge
You have a notional $350 (£175) to buy a complete set of 14 clubs for Mr. Bob Shottalk, a right handed 20 h/c from Connecticut with a driver speed swing of 89 mph (ie regular flex). You must purchase the following items:
Rules
Scoring
There are 6 categories, and each category will have 2 scores out of 5 (with 5 being the highest score), based on best value for money and highest quality of equipment. So the maximum score in each category is 10 aand the max. total score will be 60 points.
There will be an additional 10 points awarded to "the ultimate Ho", a discretionary award for the best single item sourced during the exercise, so theoretically a score of 70 could be achieved. The idea of the latter is that you could still win with a few poor categories, but jump the field with a trump Ho.
Judging
I will judge entries. I'm also looking for a additional 2 volunteers who can help assess the winner. PM me if you are interested. I will short-list 5 from which we will pick a winner. Competitors need to assemble clubs and then provide rationale as to why they are suitable for our customer, given his ability and budget. btw the Judge's decision is final.
Prize
I will offer up a golf club for the 1st prize, I will also ship it to the winner wherever he or she is. The club in question is still tbd, but it will be a nice one and suitable for the winner. Maybe Sling wants to throw in something from ST coffers to add a bit of Zest. But the real prize is bragging rights for the title of Ultimate Shot Talk 'Ho 2007.
Who will prevail? The bookmakers have already shortened the odds on the following:
Manchester Golfer
Ezra
Rockford
Dave Ireland
It is early in the morning, so I have probably missed a few things or people may need some clarification, so fire ahead with questions.
GOOD LUCK MY LITTLE HO'S!
