I can only imagine the hell they put you through. A lawsuit sounds like it might teach them a valuable lesson.

And we all deal with what life throws at us. If they know what your little guy has the battle is all but won. I know what you are feeling, honestly. I had a five year old and we were on an island on the Wisconsin River. A bil was "hang gliding" and we got him up with the other bil's boat. The kids were playing on the beach and the wind caught the hang glider on takeoff and the beam crushed my little girl's skull. One more millimeter and she would have died instantly. We got her to the hospital and they rushed her to Madison University hospital where they operated. She had mud and garbage from that nasty river in there and they were fearful of infection. They gave her 50-50 to survive. A week later she regained consciouseness (spelling?) but was a very different (personality) child. Formerly meek and sweet to very nasty. Later she got into drugs, had a child and jumped off a 10 story building. It is the worst thing that ever happened in my life but life does go on. Don't need any pity but just mention this to give you a boost. When she was in the children's ward of the UW hospital I saw poor little beautiful sick children that even made our daughter's injury seem like nothing. :(

All the best Lyle.

Silver lining to every dark cloud though, at least you know your enemy now...

Lyle, You sound like the best Dad your Son could wish for. With your freinds here, your family will make it, and make the best of it.
My hopes for a bright future are with you.

Lyle--sorry to hear about the diagnosis but glad to hear you found a competent empathetic physician.

I would not hold Child Services to blame for the misunderstanding but certainly would inform the presenting physician of the damage and treatment time loss due to "jumping to conclusions". The most valuable tool a physician has is to be a vigilant detective. Listening and remaining vigilant in analyzing data for the correct diagnosis is paramount.

A simple letter to this physician---you choose the tone of the letter--may save another patient(s) life(s).

Life, no matter what the burdens are, is still a precious commodity. Fibrinogen and clotting cofacters will be a way of life but the operative word is LIFE.

Recalling past discussions on philosophy etc you are will equipped to deal with this bump in the road. BEST WISHES.

Thank you all for the kind words. I am overwhelmed at the amount of support we are getting in regards to this. I am not concerned with my own state of mid, but more that of my wife. She is a wreck right now and I am at a complete loss of how to help her. In all my life I have never felt so damn helpless. I cant wait until next week when we will meet some specialists and begin the process of learning, understanding, and attempting to treat this. Thanks again for the well wishes and stories. It breaks my heart to hear some of the hardships a few of you have gone through. Nothing in my life will ever be put ahead of family ever again, regardless of the consequence that brings.

It never ceases to amaze me. For the last few months I have been walking around in a daze for any # of reasons. Don't have enough $$ (as if I ever will), hate my job etc. I always have tried to tell myself that even though things are tough there are people out there who have it much tougher than me with things that are way more important than $$ and they always seem to handle better than me.

Truly my prayers go out to your family and child!
