Tierra Santa is my personal "home away from home" when I see my parents. I try to play at least two round here out of the 5 days that I am usually in Texas.
Tierra Santa has fast greens and a pretty open layout. There is water on a lot of holes, but the only real forced carries are on par 3's.
I believe Tierra Santa is a 4 star course in GD's Places to Play.
There are lots of unique holes and no real blind shots. Most everything you want to know about the hole you can see from the tee. There are houses on a few of the holes on the front, and less on the back.
I love the price. With cart it's $50, but you can walk it for $38 or so. This is a great course for $40.
If you are visiting the RGV, definitely put Tierra Santa on your list.
