Can anybody here honestly say they wouldn't have been on here spouting about how Tiger is making excuses before the Masters if he came out and said he had a bulging disk in his back?

To say he should have toughed it out because the after tourney headlines would be about him is unrealistic IMO. To mess around with further hurting a neck/back injury is alot different than playing through a knee that cannot be damaged any further.

Do I need to quote my post from another thread?

Yes, I love Tiger. But people are just publishing anything they can on him now a days.

Next headline, "Tiger eats McDonalds and gets constapated. Photos inside."

This comes with the billion dollars in endorsment money that he has accumulated by creating a perception of a persona that he obviously was blantantly lying about.

If he's a dick, be a dick. Just don't try and sell me that you're not.

That, in a nutshell, is why he deserves every bit of dirt that is dug up or said about him.

I think Fisher is right, and I am not biased here at all.

Limp, you are senile and ridiculous. You think Tiger shooting an 85 would've created LESS of a media frenzy than withdrawing? PLEASE. You said yourself that we only KNOW so little about what's really going on-- he could've said he was at 100% so people would leave him alone and let him play golf. Because if he actually said his neck was bothering him, jackasses on message boards would be saying "Oh look it's ALL ABOUT TIGER! Now he's supposedly got a hurt neck so he'll have an excuse for not winning!"

You guys have crossed into the realm of hate-fetish, here. Who ****ing cares what Tiger does? If he wins, he wins. If he doesn't, he doesn't. But please, stop trying to pretend you have some magic monocle with which to look into his mind. No matter what he does, you're going to spout off like he's offended you on a personal level. Grow up, or stop shrinking, and find something productive to do with your time. You are PART OF THE PROBLEM. When forums and emails are riddled with talk about how much you hate Tiger, you're going to keep hearing about him. I don't see you posting some drivel about Clarke winning, Limp. Why not?

Tiger withdrew, and claims it was due to a neck injury. Period. Go speculate in your bathroom with a bottle of lotion.

It was talking way too much time for Tiger's No. 1 Groupie to come and insult someone because he was messing around with his wannabe-boyfriend....

This whole thread started with a weak attempt at an insult on me so as far as I'm conserned you can go f-yourself.

I blame the media for 75% of all this. When Tiger 1st burst onto the scene I thought it was great, and thouroughly enjoyed watching him play. But then it became ALL about Tiger, and not about golf. I love golf, I love playing it and watching it. I do not love Tiger, and when I tune in to watch a golf tournament I want to see what the whole field is doing. Not what one player is doing. When the talking heads spend 3/4's of an interview asking the eventual winner what he thinks about Tigers latest escapade they have crossed the line. Most of the media act as if they want to co-star in the porn movie about Tiger.

If TW never plays another golf tournament, I suppose every winners name will have to have an asterick beside it? Yeah Tim Clark won, but Tiger wasn't in it. Yeah, Phil won the Masters, but Tiger would have holed out from the pine needles. For that matter, Jack's 18 majors should have an asterick, surely he wouldn't have won any of them if only Tiger had been around.

Golf was played long before Tiger was even a gleam in his dads eye, and believe it or not, it will still be being played long after he is gone.

Everybody needs to calm dowm , stop the insults, and above all stop the abusive language.

Right now.

Or I'll lock the thread and put everybody here on time out.

I can't wait to ban Rockford. :)

.

The little bit I watched of TheGolfChannel last night, before I shut it off due to the lousy coverage, the talking heads were acting like a bunch of crybabies over Tiger's situation. To me they are actinng as though Tiger personally had taken away their meal ticket.

If someone on the golf channel were browing golf forums to find out what the hot topics are, what would they find? They'd find that nobody cares that Tim Clarke won. They'd find that nobody cares that Phil won the masters. I applauded both men. Clarke outplayed EVERYBODY on Sunday, and hit his best drive of the day with Allenby breathing down his neck over the last few holes to nail the coffin shut. Phil played great, and I am glad he won the masters.

But guess what? TIGER is what everybody is talking about. The media doesn't CREATE culture. Culture creates media. Our culture does love the "fallen angel," whoever it may be. And once the media tested the water on Tiger, they found that TIGER was the new hot-button-issue. Forget legalized abortion, forget terrorism, people will flip out about TIGER WOODS.

I have to reiterate-- I don't care what Tiger does. My problem is with the people who will crucify him at this point no matter what he does. He says he has an injury a month ago, some of you would've posted "He should suck it up and stop making excuses." If he withdraws yesterday and doesn't give a reason, "He just withdrew because he wasn't going to win!" But he withdrew and gave a reason, "If he was winning he would've toughed it out! What a loser!"

Tiger Woods cheated on a woman whose character and personality we know nothing about, several times. And, the bastard that he is, he tried to keep his personal life personal. I certainly question his decision-making-processes about a LOT of what he's done, but we don't KNOW what went on. Put the pitchforks away and focus on the GOLF. If you guy were posting, "Tiger's game has fallen off the planet lately," I would agree 100%. You can see that, his scores confirm that.

I do NOT understand why people get off on speculating about someone's personal life, whoever he or she is. Go play golf!

If we adopt the policy, "If we don't have anything nice to say, let's say nothing at all," Tiger will fall out of the universe VERY quickly, as he hasn't done anything positive since his (seemingly) fluke run at the Masters. If he's trapped in a downward spiral, that's a shame. Life goes on, and Tiger's problems are not my problem. If he can't play golf, I don't really want to hear about him.

I wasn't once abusive.

Not even close.

Please, check this entire thread and see where I once mentioned your golf game.

All right, that's the last straw! I hereby challenge you to a winner take all match, on my home course, tomorrow afternoon at 2PM. Bring your pink slips, your house deed, your dog's rabies tags, it's all on the line. If you don't show, you forfeit. :)

I'm assuming your avitar is a recent picture SUX? If so it explains a lot, and I don't mean that in a bad way, trust me.

But with age comes maturity and a whole different outlook on things. And in retrospect, it does seem that the battle lines on TW are drawn along ages. The younger sect seem to think he can do no wrong, or are at least more willing to overlook his indescretions. While those more seasoned members of this forum seem to be more critical. Maybe its because we recall the days of ore, when Jack and Arny were tearing it up, when Tom Watson was young and the worse thing we read about was The Shark choking again.

Perhaps they were all guilty of acting as irresponsibly as TW has, maybe the press coverage being much more limited allowed them to get away with it? Maybe they overlooked it? We will never know, but in this day and time, we are aware of every little move they make, even if its a bad one. And for the celebrities of today to not know they are going to get caught or found out is preposterous.

TW was raised in the spotlight, and is VERY aware of the media coverage of his every move. He has made millions, maybe even billions off of it. Did he know withdrawing would steal the spotlight off Tim Clark, most likely. Did he do it at that time for that very reason? We have no way of knowing. But his past actions tend to make us belive he did know, and used it to his advantage to stay in the spotlight.

If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and looks like a duck, its probably a duck!!!!!!!!!
