MDW;

It's not that I don't care that he's done wrong. I don't care what he does, period. Tiger Woods is a part of my life in the following way: watching him play golf entertains and impresses me. I have my own moral compass; I don't need Tiger Woods to fill that role in my life. I don't look up to him, I don't think he's a hero. I don't care about any aspect his life besides the holes he's putting it in on the golf course. I wouldn't tell anyone he's a good guy; I don't know if he is, and I don't care if he is. Chances are, he isn't.:

I agree with you but I understand you're already a structured person with your own moral values, and personality who has no need to follow a Raw Idol Evangelically as some golfers do or a lot of little kids would try to imitate. If I was a father as some people here are, I would be concerned about Tiger Woods as I would be about Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Plaxico Burres or any idol my kids would want to imitate, and would be concerned about what their education looks like. T.V: and media have such impact in a kids life now a days, than even a great home instruction could break up on a "fallen angels" example....

See, this is where I believe the parent has the biggest role. If your kid is old enough to idolize a sports figure they are old enough to have their moral rolodex filled by THE #1 PERSON/PEOPLE in their life. T.V. and the like don't have to be a kids main source of influence. At some point they need to be able to differentiate real from fake and right from wrong. If fearing what the world at large will do to our children's hearts and character is what we're going to be about we'd better duck our feckin heads in the sand right now... and not because of Tiger Woods.

I should note that I have two boys and a girl ages 7b, 4b, and 2g.

These are great points and it blows my mind when people say or the athlete/celebrity says that we shouldn't be idolizing them. Well guess what, I am 31yrs old and I DON"T idolize you. But the 7yr old kid who only knows that Tiger is the best golfer in the world, the "man" when it comes to golf IS idolizing you. Or the girl who thinks Paris, Lohan etc are the "hottest" things out there today. They do idolize the athlete or celebrity no matter what the parent does.

My daughter is 3. I am as active if not more active in her life than I ever thought I would be, but I \WANT to be involved in her life. I hope when she gets to the point of idolizing somebody it will be me or my wife, but in reality when it gets to that point in a child/teens life who do you think they want to be like? Tiger? Paris? Or mom and dad? I suspect that mom and dad will be fairly low on the list since we won't let her have a cell phone or dress like a hooker at age 12.

Lets get real on the idolizing and stop saying that kids shouldn't idolize athletes. They are going to do so and hopefully when the time comes you or I will be able to tell them "yes Tiger may be the best golfer but he made some poor choices that really hurt alot of people" including people that won't admit they were hurt by Tiger's actions, I suspect there are some on this board. This isn't a shot at anybody in particular, I suspect that I may be one of those people. I like to think I am not naive but I actually thought Tiger was different from other athletes in today's world. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. Take all the shots at me you want, but our world that we live in today needs, I mean NEEDS, squeaky clean sports heroes. Maybe we need them more than ever.

Or maybe it's just heroes we need in this world and there aren't nearly enough.

This is yet another post that shows how rediculous the lunatic hate has become. Its kind of like the hatred that revolved around the rabid haters of Bill Clinton and George W Bush. There is no sanity in it. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT TIGER WAS MAKING CALCULATIONS ABOUT HOW HE WOULD STEAL THE SPOTLIGHT AWAY FROM TIM CLARK!!!!!! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!!! YES I'M SHOUTING HERE!!!!!

Did you ever stop to think that perhaps.........just perhaps..........his neck actually did hurt and he was out of contention so there was no need to do additional damage and prolong the recovery from the injury by finishing the round. Call me silly, but whatever. Anybody out there ever hurt their neck before? I sure have. I've been battling neck problems for almost 10 years. When I hurt it the quicker I get on top of it the quicker the recovery. If I immediatly stop whatever I'm doing at the first twinge of pain and go to anti-inflamatories and alternating heat and Ice I can cut the recovery to 5 days but if I continue to work, surf or play golf after that first twinge its usually long recovery of 3-weeks or more.

Really I think Tiger is conspiring to destroy golf as we know it. He is in a secret alliance with dark forces in Singapore, VietNam and North Korea to destroy the western world. He will continue to strategically miss cuts, screw porn stars, win golf tournaments, get injured, withdraw from events, not sign autographs, give snippy interviews to reporters who couldn't lift his jock strap,..........., ............, ........... ALL THIS AND MORE IN HIS QUEST TO DESTROY THE GOLFING UNIVERSE!!!!!!

You know Fisher, I was trying to defuse the situation, merely explain why some of us are looking at this the way we are. Do I know for a fact he intentionally tried to steal the spotlight from Tim Clark, no. I tried to make that quite clear.

But sense you seem intent on calling me out on my every comment, because it doesn't agree with your obviously slanted view; since you seem to relish attacking me and other valued members of this forum, lets clear the air here. Your obvious man-crush on Tiger is bordering on hilarious. Are you related to him or something? I mean seriously, I think Peyton Manning is a great QB, maybe he will go down as the greatest of all time. But if he pulled half of the stunts that Tiger has I'd burn the Manning jersey I bought for my grandson. I have never said TW wasn't a great golfer, skill wise, he may very well be the greatest ever. The man was blessed with a God given talent, and through his hard work and his parents diligence, developed it to an amazing level. Sadly it seems a bit too much time was spent developing his golf skills, and not enough instilling a strong moral base. Or maybe his parents tried, and outside forces tempted him, but HE is the one that gave in to them. Not me, not Limp, or anyone else on here that doesn't IDOLIZE him like you do. It is not our fault he screwed up, and all your adoration isn't going to repair his image. Your idol is FLAWED, he is a total wreck of a human being, face the facts. And the last time I checked, this was still a public forum, based in the USA, where we are free to have and state our own opinions, even if they don't agree with yours. Just like you are free to spout your unabashed love for TW.

However, for the peace and tranquility of this forum, I will no longer make a post in a thread discussing TW. Heaven forbid I upset you again by saying something derogatory about Tiger Woods.

mddub is correct that this is a public forum and all opinions are welcome.

REAL, personal insults are not. No more...none...period.

Yes Rock, you can continue to insult Sib's golf game...cause, it's not real, anyway!

If Tiger withdrew from a tournament on November 1st, 2009, I wouldn't think twice about it. I would have told myself "He's hurt". May 1st, 2010 I have to ask myself "is he hurt or does he not want to play". I like Tiger and you have to respect his golfing talent. I think he is hurt. But unfortunately things have changed. The question/doubt is there. That is the real story here.

Does that apply to insults against me? Just curious. "All opinions are welcome" Really??? I haven't exactly felt that was the case, but whatever. Just sayin. Did you happen to read the first post that started this thread? Was anybody else mentioned by name?

Not to add fuel to the fire, but he does have a point here. Anytime there is a Tiger thread you can almost guarantee that Fisher will be mentioned. Kinda like when I start a "have you guys played this club" thread.

Hey think of it this way, I don't care what you say about me, just make sure to spell my name right! LOL.

You were called a "Tiger lover". Hardly what I would call "fighting words", but, if you would like me to do so, I will add "Tiger lover" to my list of banned words & phrases. Just say so.

Jam,

You always have a way of telling it like it is. Well done.:thumbs up:

That said, it takes a bigger man to have thick skin when it comes to differing sides of the fence. If a stink is made, you more apt to be "picked on" by the masses than if you were to let sleeping dogs lie.

I've learned that in the 14 years I've been posting on these boards. Speak your mind, just realize that not everyone is going to opine like you. And the more lunacy you display in your replies, the more flies it attracts.

I've learned to move on most of the time. I just really couldn't be bothered with someone who tells me that TM is the best company, grilled cheese is what i should eat for lunch or that Tiger Woods is someone to look up to. I don't agree with any of it, but it doesn't mean either one of us is right.

Grilled cheese does suck, for the record. :biglol:

I don't disagree with you one bit. I like this place mainly because I know when I post a good thread/post it will genereate some good discussion. Conversely, when I post a stupid thread/post I know it will get little response or the obligatory "shots" fired in my direction. I have no problem with that.

I will say, I have gotten sick of the Tiger threads. I know it's good discussion for the most part but really. I keep coming back to this one to see if one of my posts generated any response, it hasn't and I think mainly due to getting buried in the massive amounts of posts in this thread.

So all that being said, I was thinking of getting a nice Ft Tour driver has anybody hit one of those, also going to get a Scotty putter since they are bar none the best putter out there. While I am at it, going to switch back to blades, real golfers play blades not cavities since they are better feeling and easier to work the ball left and right. Since I am going to have a bag like a player I figure I'll call Hank Haney, see if he can fix my swing. I hear he's not going to be to busy in the near future. Maybe I can get a good rate, I don't have a private jet he can fly in but I do drive a Pontiac. It's good on gas mileage and has a surprising amount of leg room and trunk space. I won't be able to play the Nike clubs that he sponsors though because their main man Tiger has his moral compass shoved up his @ss!

Sorry, got on a rant there...LOL all in good fun!

Rock, now you've gone and done it man. That's the last feckin straw. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, says that grilled cheese sucks a$$.

On a serious note... let's not bull$hit here man, even though we cannot actually hear through our computers, there is definately a tone involved anytime someone mentions Fisher. Moreover, I am of the opinion that at least one thread has been put out there as pure fish(er) food.

What really sucks is that this has robbed us all of the opportunity to lambaste Westwood for CHOKING... AGAIN. I really wanted him to hold on. Also there was very little said about the fact that Ernie won twice, as did Furyk, and oh yeah... Tim Clarke got his first PGA win. Rory McIlroy shoots 16 under in 36 holes and it got like 1 hours worth of discussion. How come nobody's wondering WTF is going on with Padraig? Is Ben Crane young and bald or old with a young looking face?

Are you expecting to get it on 9º or 10º loft? Remember that's not something to decide just on your own. The least you have to do is open a new thread about which loft to choose and why, and we will have SilverUberXeno argumentation about why due to the 7th law of quantum astrophysics the loft in your driver will change the trajectory of the ball in a parabolic curve only if the cristaloid convection of the titanium molecules equal the distance between the lowest point of the heal to your anconeus muscle lower tendon insertion, which would mean an increase in the head turn and you'll hook the ball, and WBL will come and beg you to try the new PING G20 before you decide on the FT-Tour
