To buy new or just reshaft

Its been a long and hard toil, but i've finally got the money to reshaft the V-steel, but now that i'm here, i wonder if the V-steel is really what i want.

i've had the totally wrong shaft in there and that might have changed my opinion on it,

let me describe what i want and see what you guys think would fit me

i want something mainly for off the fairway, but it would be nice to have something to get me off the tee as well (talking about face profiles i think)
so maybe something a tad lower than average b/c i have a cheap purespin 5 wood that is just money for some reason off the tee, but can also be used from about 210 out from the fairway and since i usually hit maybe 285 or so off the tee i would like something to fill the gap, maybe a 250 or 260 club that will give me a chance on par 5's

there isn't enough sole on the V-steel touching the ground it kinda seems like the sole is a V, (dramatization, yes)

i really want to look at the cleveland fairway woods with their recent price drop, i also wanted to look at the adams ovation, but think they may be too low of a face profile

i looked at golf discount.com about the clevelands, (not the Ti ones tho) they have them for $99 in the stock fujikara gold shaft but the only option they have that i would like is a 17 degree, in regular flex, since OEM stock shafts can be different would this regular play more like a stiff, or do i really need to go stiff

thanks, sorry lots of questions,

The cleveland ti can be found used at very good prices.

The 17 is more like a 4 wood than a 3. 3's are normally 13-16 degrees.
The gold shafts are a little weak as are most oem shafts, don't be fooled by the fujikura shaft. It is also a high launch mid spin shaft.

Younggun....i just put mine back in the bag, without even reshafting it. The thing works, and even though the shaft is too whippy, i like the fact that i can fade it if necessary, as i normally play a draw. I think you should at least give it a cheap reshaft try before buying a new club. Or, do both, lol

I like the ti because it is longer but the head is still a reasonable size.

what do you constitute as a cheap reshaft,

i've decided to reshaft the V-steel that way i can keep dreaming about the clevelands, maybe i'll dump the 5 wood and get a cleveland later on

i'll do it in the next few weeks

You can find a pull out of a accra for about $50.00. You get what you pay for, it you put a $10 shaft in it you will get cheap results.

I have my V-Steels for a while, and love em. I got the Stiff in each, and thought they felty good. I know this is a to each his own kinda deal, so, but I liked it better than the clevelands. But then again I really disliked the stock Cleveland shafts so.....

OB- i disagree. You can find quality shafts for under 50.00. I have had very good results with Mercury graphite shafts, and if he prefers steel, DGS300 or such is not expensive at all. I have an Accra T70 M4 that i think is the worst shaft i have ever hit. It's quality, very smooth feeling, but it doesnt work at all for me. I dont think that putting a DG steel shaft or a Mercury Performance series shaft would make the club perform worse. JMO

it is most definitely too flexible, i went to the range today and fiddled around with it if i slow down my swing which i plan to throughout my whole bag then it performs fine, if i up my swing speed it goes left

since this will be my attack club on par 5's i will have to swing harder at times, so most definitely reshafting, my 5 wood was having the same problem too... although i've never had that problem, today wasn't a good range day tho, right to left crosswind all day, definitely launch monitor time

that 5 wood might be replaced soon

Sonartec are nice, and they have irod on them, good stiff responsive shaft.
Bought the Adams Ovation with stock aldila NV... Too much torque, no head stability. Sold it right back from where I bought it.
