So, I'm thinking of customizing my wedge shafts. Currently, they're both DG wedge specific shafts, which means they're bottom of the barrel.

Any suggestions? I only need the two, so I was considering something exotic like Project X, Black Gold or something.

Comments and recommendations welcomed.

Hmmm, I would have never given the shafts in my wedges a second thought if you hadn't brought this up so thanks.

Jerk. :p

No problem.

I guess the Rifle Spinner provides a softer tip for a more feel shot rather than a full on hammer swing that a stuffer tip would provide.

Don't know much about the Black Gold myself. Just what I've read, but that was in an iron review.

Project X are favorites of playas. That and DGS400's.

Wedges, don't ya just love 'em?

Since I haven't ho'ed anything in months I guess I can think about this for awhile. After I set up my practice mat and net that is. That's gonna be a job.

why do you describe DG as bottom of the barrel? They are perfect for a wedge imo,I also doubt you can tell the difference between brands on such a lofted club

I'm a sceptic about many things in golf in this century,as i'm sure you've noticed, but sorry, softer tips in a wedge? ! Surely the forging makes a difference above and beyond anything you could feel from either the shaft or tip

I just read recently that Tiger uses softer flex shafts in his wedges than in his irons, for that "feel thing"....

dave,

I think you've misread, or I mistyped. I meant that the DG shaft that was in there was bottom rung on the DG ladder, not that DG is bottom shelf. Sorry about that. OEM stock shafts are often just slammed in, and when mass produced like in a wedge, they often are almost always out of whack.

For feel players, they get a soft tip shaft that allows them to pick the ball better. A stiffer shaft is more for guys that attack the ball and want that low skidder.

I'm thinking a Rifle, but I keep coming back to DGS400's....

Rock35: I don't believe the Project X shafts are sold indiviually, they only come in sets of 8, so getting 2 wedge shafts would be a problem. I went with the Rifle Spinner wedge shafts in all my wedges this spring and I couldn't be happier with the shafts. They are designed to get the ball up higher, and that a good thing around the green, as you know.
