I use Formula 409 on the irons and WD-40 on the painted metalwood heads.

What is Formula 409?

I managed to get some Simply Green, last time I was States-side. Great on the grips. I use Cif on the irons (Kitchen cream cleaner).

btw I tried Rock's suggesion of cheap coke on the wedges to rust 'em up. Turns out my extra cheap coke was sugar free, 18p for 2 litres of this stuff!!!!! It was crap. Looks like you need the "real thing" for the rust effect.

I might even have to drink the stuff..... :faintthud

Irish - what wedges do you have?

I basically didn't touch mine at all - played em wet and stuffed them in the bag, and they were pretty rusty after a few weeks. If you want to wrap 'em in a wet towel and let em sit each night that helps too.

I am playing the RTG's and those are known to rust very easily.

Dishsoap and water, towel dry. Then oil the forged clubs once a month or so to stop the rust on the contact spots

Sugar free? Have you been hitting them fat or something? Thinning them ever since?

(Oh, I kill me.......)

It's not for cleaning clubs specifically, but check out Golf in the Round if you haven't already. This is a great product. It is a little towel for cleaning your golf ball that you fold up and put in your pocket. Only one side is a towel...the other side is dry. I used it all of last year and got a new one for this year. I use it on almost every green. On cold days, use hot water...makes a little pocket warmer.

IG: Formula 409 is a general purpose cleaner in a spray bottle. You can use it for all kinds of general household cleaning. It's nothing magical and not formulated just for golf clubs - but it works really well on my irons.

I really like the WD-40 on the painted metalwoods though. The cleans and shines them beautifully....
