I had a good streak going. My last 8 rounds or so were all under 85, with a couple of sub-80 rounds thrown in for good measure.

Then I shot 105.

Granted, it was on a pretty tough forest course I hadn't played before and the greens had me baffled...but 105????

I couldn't hit a fairway to save my life, my irons shots abandoned me and I must have had at least half a dozen three-putts.

***sigh***:(

Well, if you don't have a time machine, then you can't change an anomoly of a 105. Just don't let it get to you. Shit happens, remember your impressive streak of great rounds. That 105 barely sets off your average. Go to the range and practice just a bit, to make sure there's nothing really wrong with you. Most likely, you were just excited to play somewhere new. No worries.

Sounds like it was just a bad day. It happens to all of us (although, it seems to happen more frequently to me  ). Hit the range and the practice green before your next round and go out an shoot your normal score. If the high scores persist, it might be time to visit your local pro and find out what happened to your swing.

It Does happen to everyone from time to time and without warning...sometimes the planets just won't line up for you...

Hit the range this week for about an hour and shake it off. I'll bet your next round will be normal for you...

Just get back out there ... I blew up myself the other day, then responded with a 76 (from an 89). Welcome to golf ... :)

Yep, I think I'll hit the range for some relaxed sessions, then try again on Friday.

Give yourself a few seconds between balls, too. Stop and watch your ball come to rest, then stand and enjoy the air for a little while. Golf is NOT a sport to rush, so practicing shouldn't be either. I can hit 104 balls at the range in 40 minutes or 80 minutes. Guess which one works better for me?

Dude
It happens to us all. I have been going through "the horrors" for about the last 6 weeks. I had golfing goals this year that have been shot to pieces. On reflection I have had a lot of extra commitments outside golf which have taken a priority. And I reckon the golf has suffered. But that's cool! I have to accept that and move on and set new more realistic goals.

It's hard not to get frustrated, knowing that you can do better, but golf is one of those funny sports. Like a woman you never quite know where you stand. Just when you think you have it mastered, it jumps up and bites you and continues to bite you until for some unknown reason (a lesson, a new club, a sunny day) you're "back at the races".

The important thing is to accept the bad, ride through it and come out on the other end smiling. It's not a living for most of us here, so it should be enjoyed, as a break from work, life, etc. If it's not fun, either take a break from it, or work at it.

Dudes that have a crap swing, don't practice and go out expecting to shoot their best score every time are deluded, get very frustrated and usually don't enjoy it.

Dudes that have a crap swing, don't practice and go out expecting to enjoy themselves regardless of their score are realistic, have a great time and can't wait to get back out there.

etc. to a rambling conclusion.... ;)

That is the quote of the year! (just don't let my wife see it..........);)

I wish I could remember who said this but this is how I remember it.

Everytime I'm playing great I think it'll never end and everytime I'm playing bad I think the same thing.

I try to remind myself of this often no matter how I feel about my game.

I just try to focus on each shot as its own shot. When I do that, I hit better. When I'm thinking about the shots before, and the shots to come, then everything falls apart.

LOL!!

The fact is, me darlin' Kate is Irish, and lets me know exactly where I stand.

Anyway, I had a good range session yesterday and I'll go again tomorrow before Friday's round.

Irish women are the worst. You think you know the situation, you think she tells you how she feels about it, but actually you are a million miles away.

There are so many factors involved, only a fraction of which are logical. You just gotta accept it.

Well I had a couple of relaxed range session then yesterday I went out to the same course where I shot the 105 and I had a MUCH better round

I shot 45 on the front nine with 4 penalty strokes and came in with a nifty 37 on the back nine. I'll take an 82 any day.:D
