IF! And it’s a big if, the club can make a local rule, what if you could make a personal rule! What would it be?

I would make a tree an immovable obstruction allowing free relief!

USGA logic!
A tree is immovable!
A tree is an obstruction!
But a tree is not an immovable obstruction!
Go figure

Also any bare patch of ground would be deemed ground under repair, entitling free relief!

1.) Motorized carts stay on cart paths 100% of the round! Our course gets lots of play. Our fairways would be easier to maintain without the traffic. Idiots drive carts way too close to the greens. And... aren't we out there for exercise?
2.) Ready golf required. None of us are "honorable" enough to have "honors". Hit it. Find it. Hit it again!
3.) Free relief from anywhere that might damage a club... or a wrist. Tree root. Gravel. If you get relief off a cart path, you should get relief off any surface that would cause undo damage.
