WOW, over $2,000 for a putter? and there were about 13 different putters.

Anyone know the history behind this putter?

Yep,made in 1968 for Slazenger, and sent to Gary Player and Jacklaus with their own signatures on the bottom, only a couple of hundred of each were made.He had only started making Ansers in 1966 in his garage in Scottsdale, these specials were some of the first to come out of his Phoenix factory (I think)

Yeah, there are many Anser collectors out there, the Scotty wannabees are just boys in comparison:)

Its the fact its Gary Player I think, only a few are available and not already stuck in cabinets, they rarely come up because only about 200 were made,so they are highly prized

What's so special about that putter cover?

I don't care if Neil Armstrong smuggled it in his anus during the flight to the moon and then gave it to the Dhali Lama as a wedding present, it's not worth $1600 bucks.

What if it was in a different anus...say...Halli Berry's?

I think Gary's Players putter is a bit more exclusive than Hallie Berry's arse
