Today I walked 9 holes and I'm exhausted.

In my defense, this is the first time I've walked in 30 years. :) I carried a full set of clubs in my new Ogio Exo bag, and by the time I got to the 7th I was ready to call for an ambulance. If I do this again I may buy an electric bag cart. :) Somehow I made it through, even though 7, 8, & 9 are all uphill.

I had a 1 liter bottle of water, but that wasn't enough. On this course, Forest Hills, there are NO water sources. Yech.

I started at 4:30PM, playing with a real nice college kid, but I couldn't keep up with him after 5 holes, so he played ahead. Luckily, everyone was watching the Georgia football game, so the course was not crowded.

Oh, and I can't putt for crap.

Are you too old to walk?
Some days ago, I played with 2 retiree women, aged around 60-70.
These ladies could walk and play fast.

But try doing this a little more. 9 holes is a good start, then try extending it to 18. It'll build up your stamina, and you can only benefit from it.

Also, for a bit, you may try using a pull/push cart rather than carrying.

Just a thought.

Yeah, that's a good idea. Takes a lot of strain off of your body, and you're still walking, so it's still good for you.

Sure seemed like it today! :)

I'm 53, so I'm not as young as I'd like. I will surely have to get a pull/pull or electric cart if I keep walking.

The weather today was perfect if a little warm @ 85F, and the course was beautifully green. I really enjoy being outside, and walking makes me appreciate the beauty more.

If you play on weekends, ask around to see if someone's kid wants to carry your bag for you.

It will help you get into shape and might bring a new person to the game of golf.

Can't decide whether to spend $200 on an electric cart or $50 on a push cart.

Anyone used an electric bag cart? Any good?

Why not spend $2 next time you go to rent a push cart and see how it works for you?

Too simple. I'm looking for the complex solution. :)

Pull carts really take a LOT of stress off your body. I think you should rent one just to see. I carry for my school, and usually use a pull cart when I'm leisure golfing, and it really is WAAAAY less work to use a push cart. I think it'd be fine for you, ya charming young man.

I walked the back nine of the same course last evening, and I wasn't quite so tired as I was 5 days ago. :)

Carried the bag again, and did the 9 holes from 6:15 PM to 8:00 PM or 1 & hour and 45 minutes. I hear complaints about slow play all the time, but I really don't see how I could have walked any faster.

And I made 3 pars, the first I have made since I started playing this summer. :) Unfortunately, a few other holes ate me up and I shot a 48. Still, that's the best I have ever done.
