Yet one more iron thought, Bridgestone this time

So I bought a set of Cleveland CG4 Tours and they look pretty decent. I think I may be having a bit of buyers remorse though, I had been eyeing a set of Bridgestones. I was looking at the J33 cavity or the J33 combo set. Has anybody played either of these irons? Is it worth going after them rather than just holding on the CG4 Tours? I'm just kinda not really sure what I want, that and its near impossible to find the specs on the CG4 Tours...

I know they work off a 46 degree PW, Jim. I'd guess 46, 42, 38, 34, 30, 27, 24, 21 for loft. Lie is standard with other Clveveland irons. Hosel is .370, and they can be bent 5 degrees in any direction.

I'll still take the heads off your hands if you want to go in a different direction. I have no money right now though.

46*, ok I was thinking 45*. I am just a bit lost at the moment. I will let you know if I decide to get rid of them. I can hang on to them for a bit since I most likely won't be playing for at least another month, maybe 6 weeks.

Cool. Whatever you want to do. I really am set for golf clubs, but you know how it is. The CG4 tour will be way more forgiving then the Bridgestones, I can tell you that.

In all honesty, I SHOULD stick with the clevelands. I have hit the CG2's and know how good they feel, if the CG4's feel even close I will be happy. Really what I should be doing is not worrying about my irons and trying to find some decent wedges at a good price.

i LOVE Bridgestone irons. i had a set of J33 CB's a few years ago and loved em. i wish i still had them. very solid iron. i never had a set of the J33 Combo's but I always wanted a set. A buddy of mine had the Precept Prototype of the J33 COmbo irons. Exactly the same as the J33's except they had Precept stamped on them and TQ-04

I played a set of J33cb's for a little while. They're very nice irons! They look great at address.

Its the indian, not the arrows. Threads obsessing about equipment crack me up.

Maybe there is no problem, Indian or arrow, and he just wants to buy something he'll really like the look and feel of...

Yeah, that's basically it. At the end of last season I was just plain sick of playing, I sold every piece of equipment I owned with the exception of my Ray Cook putter (which was worth nothing) and my golf bag (which I really like and got a good deal on). Now as spring is rolling around I am finding myself getting interested in golf again, I lost my love/passion at the end of last season, and need to rebuild my bag with one rule-I don't want anything that I have owned/played b4 with one exception- my TEE 3w (still looking for a Graf Comp NT 85 S flex to put in it by the way).

So here I am, I like the look of bridgestones, I bought a set of Clevelands and just plain don't know what I want at this point. I like to hear others opinions and thoughts on equipment, I find those are more helpful than mfg reviews in Golf Digest or other reviews online. I am pretty much open to any club at this point with the exception of Ben Hogan. I have played 3 different sets of those over the last 6 yrs and need a change.

Well Jim, not knowing what you've played before and only having the experience of my recent iron search i'll tell you what I think. When I searched I went to all the golf stores to see all the irons up close. Made a list of all the clubs I would hit based on looks alone and that narrowed it down big time. I then set a max on $. That narrowed it down even more (including ebay). I hit all the irons I liked the looks of and that helped narrow it a little, however within the style of iron I was looking at with comparable shafts they all felt great. From there I researched resale value and durability. The durability factor is what drove me away from forgings. All of this led me to the Ping S59's I got and I am totally happy with my purchase.

That said I will note that there were two clubs that really stood out in looks and feel to me and those were the Nike cci forged and those TEE forged blades you saw in the other thread. I didn't get those mainly because of price and the fact that swmbo will not let me spend a lot of $ on clubs again for a while and I just wanted to settle in to something for a long while to gain consistancy. I felt like if I got a soft forging they'd get all dinged up and i'd want something new a year and a half from now. I may be all wrong about that, but that was my thought process. If money were disposable to me I MIGHT have gotten something different, but I can honestly say that I am happy with my equip. now to not think about it and start concentrating on hitting the damn ball right. I did just enter a raffle at the golf expo for a new Scotty though...

If you are open to trying some other irons, the Tee CNC forged irons are simply amazing. I bought them on a whim because of the price and I am in love. You can get them for a really good price on EBAY.

yeah, those TEE CNC Forged irons are SWEET! another old school set you might wanna check out are the Precept EC603's. they are still one of my favorite designs of all time and I still play them from time to time. they come standard with Nippon shafts and you can usually get a nice set on Ebay anywhere from $80-$150
