Who woulda thought?

I thought after getting our shop wiped out by the floods last year, and losing or throwing out almost 50% of our inventory, almost all our accessories and some equipment, we could look forward to a new future.

We put in new flooring, walls...etc...

Last week, we were almost back to where we were a year ago.....with no government or insurance assistance we had to rebuild a piece at a time....at our expense

Well, today we were hit by floods again....We've been here 10 years and never had a problem...and now, two years in a row.

Right now we have about 2 feet of water in our shop...our course is about 1/3 underwater....and it is supposed to peak in height at 5:00pm tomorrow.

It is dark and there no electricity in the shop....I am assuming a short (obviously), so I have no idea how much damage to components, machines, tools we will incur....I have to wait till tomorrow for daylight and acess the situation.

This sucks.

But, life goes on.....and so will we.

But just expect our turn around time on any orders to be slightly not as fast as normal.....LOL

Rory, I hope everything isn't as bad as it might seem, and hope you get through this with much less stress and problems!

We just got nailed about a week ago with like 3" of rain in 45min and it pretty much flooded our little city that I work in. Two of the main roads were closed for about an hr and the drains in the city (yes all of them) were gushing out water, like a geyser. It was incredible to see and very damaging. Like you said, happened about this time last year.

Crappy thing is that homeowners/renters insurance doesn't cover water damage. I guess we are in for another storm this weekend too...and then we have winter to look forward to!

How come your insurance doesn't cover water damage? I live in a high rise condo, and my coverage includes water damage.....

Or is it something "rare" in your area, that isn't normally added to a policy?

No insurance because we all live in a flood plain....and most insurance companies will not touch us.

Ouch... ain't that a bitch.

Thats like living in S. Cal and not being able to get fire coverage for your home, just doesn't make sense!

Hope it all works out for the best.

I remember those floods from last year. The Iowa/Illinois/Missouri connection got nailed hard. Tops of silos were barely sticking out. There was a little town about 1-1.5hours north of Macomb near Burlington that just vanished, dissapeared, gone. I hope all doesn't get much worse. My dad lives in Macomb and took pictures for me. It was a sad sight.

Dayum Rory, that really sux. Maybe you should rebuild on pylons this time?

I hope everything works out for you Rory.

I should have clarified better. In this case with heavy rain and gushing water it would be considered Flooding. Almost every basic homeowners/renters policy does NOT cover flooding, you need "flood insurance." This is different than your pipes leaking/bursting, then most have coverage of some sort.

Good luck, Rory! Wish there was something I could do, but know you're in my thoughts!

Wow man! Hope everything comes out ok... sorry to hear this :(

Sorry Rory, that's terrible news. Bloody global warming!
