Veeg at the Wachovia

Tiger at his best right now is 7 straight birdies in the third round of the Masters. When he plays at that level, he can easily blow the entire field out of the water. Unfortunately, he has consistency issues with the driver that bring the rest a little closer.

If Tiger's ever able to reel in the driver, Vijay's best (which is usually 1 or 2 strokes better than the field each tourney) is no match for Tiger's best. Vijay is much more consistent than Tiger. Yet if we're comparing best vs. best, Tiger is still the best player in the world.

I truly believe Tiger will dominate again...the same as he did before.
Well, if we judge a golfer in 7 hole stretches, then I am scratch cause I did it once ;). Or, even in single round stretches, then Phil is the best with his 59. Or what's-his-face with his peformance in the Excelsior Match Play this year. Or Dimarco the 2 days before Tiger's Masters birdie barrage. I'm not saying that Tiger is a has-been. I'm saying that he isn't the golfing sun that shines on the earthly field. Anyone who argues that Tiger's "best" will dominate the field is merely reliving past glory.

Sorry. There has been too much spectacular golf this year for a 7 hole stretch to put Tiger as the best golfer of the year-- especially when the stat of # of wins for the year comes into play. Tiger is no better than the others around him at the top of the WGRs.

Wow... what's with the duplicate posts today>

The point wasn't to judge a player on seven holes. It was, however, to show what Tiger can do when his driver is working. He's 159th on tour in driving accuracy, yet still 5th in GIR. Imagine what kind of damage he could do if he wasn't hitting half of his approaches from behind trees. Like I said, if he can reel in that driver, he will dominate the tour again.

As for a simple Veej vs. Tiger comparison in 2005:

Veej wins - 3
Veej events - 13

Tiger wins - 3
Tiger events - 9

Tiger can be the best golfer today.

Right now, Vijay is the best golfer out there.

If Tiger gets his shit together, he can be head and shoulders over anyone out there. But, the fact that he doesn't have his shit together makes him more of a liability.

Veeg is consistently there. Tiger hasn't missed a cut in about 57 years by my math. Always there too.

Tiger put himself on a pedestal and won everything very, very convincingly. Now he's not as consistent. Vijay won two majors, then 9 times in one year and won the money title. He overtook Tiger for #1. And he's won 3 full field competitions this year.

Right now, Vijay is the best out there. Tiger can be the best, but he isn't.

But he can be. I hope he gets his shit together. I liked watching him destroy tournaments, even if it got tiring. And competition just fuels the fire of the big 4 (or 5, if you count PH).

You put PH out there ahead of Goosen?

My bad there. I meant Goosen.

Thanks for catching that.

How about some choice tickets and a couple of hot babes to go with it?

Now that Veej isn't coming off a weekend victory, how many of you are still on the Veej is #1 bandwagon? That's two missed cuts this year.

Tiger? He obviously didn't have his A game this weekend and still finished tied for 3rd.

Where were you when Tiger missed the cut, Mr. Oxhuge?

Goose, Gander, Pot and Kettle. ;)

First time in how many years? We'll cut him some slack.

Speaking of goose, where the hell's he been lately?

"Goose... is dead"

"I know."

I was always a Vijay fan, never jumped on the bandwagon. I don't judge a player by missed cuts either. I judge them by what they are doing now. Last year Vijay was by far #1. This year it is neck and neck both have 3 wins, Tiger has one major in his, does that make him #1? Vijay has been in contention more but he also plays more does that make him better? I would like to see Tiger go out and play golf every week like Vijay and then see what happens. I don't think Tiger has had an A game in 2 years.JMO

I'm a Singh fan too but the bottom line is that Tiger has a box load more majors than VJ and Tiger is and will always be a legend. VJ will be a footnote in history.
