What does lol mean?

I that it meant lots of love, but some people put it behind every sentence
they write, which to me does'nt make sense.

I think it commonly means laugh out loud, lots of laughter, something along those lines.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I almost feel stupid for not knowing that, but at least people are'nt sending their love every other sentence.
