Gents,
Back in the land of cold. Great trip. I could go on for days, but I'll give the highlights and lowlights.
Notable Memories
Barbados is a great place. Lush, green and hot. The water is spectacular, far exceeding my expectations and my memories of Jamaica by far.
Not alot of golf to be had for the layman, as three of the 5 courses on the island are private. One course is a muni and plays as so. I took no pictures of any courses for two reasons:
1. The muni's were garbage. Not worth photos.
2. Sandy Lane would not allow photography for the benefit of it's guests. (Basically, it's snob central and full of prickish English people. I'm not saying the people from England are pricks, I'm saying that people that stay at Sandy Lane are. Big difference. )
Here's the link to Sandy Lane if you care to look: Sandy Lane Golf Course Barbados
The Barbados Golf Course, which was the track I was scheduled to play, was very nice from the drive by that we had. The chap that I was to play with came down with Dengue Fever of all things and couldn't make it. I was pretty bummed, but a few rum punches killed all that feeling. I mean, playing with a rented set of clubs (Cobras), paying $175 and playing in 110* heat wasn't as charming as you might think.
The beach beckoned a bit more, I'm sad to say.
I did a bit more site seeing than anything. Here's a few photos of my wanderings around the island.
This "charming fellow" was happy to pose next to Ragged Point, which is where the Caribbean Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean meet. Interesting trivia tidbit for you there.
The accomodations.....perfect balance of house and nature. Beautiful...
Here's a shot of the neighbours. They did their best to wander through our yard on a daily basis. The guava, cantelope, banana, lime and mango trees growing all over the property will do that....
With only two golf courses to choose from, one that was terrible and a partner with Dengue, how can this not call to you and tug at your inner child?
I would (and will) go back in a heartbeat.
On a golf related note, I was sitting in the LoneStar Restaurant just north of Holetown, Barbados, having myself a Heneiken and some linguine, when who walks in but freaking Ian Woosnam! My wife and I were the only two in the place until he bellied up to the bar and bought a beer. A group of people I'm assuming he was meeting there finally came and the one guy introduced his wife to Ian. I wanted so much to go and chat with him, but I thought better of it. I mean, the guy's on vacation, right? Why be a dick and slobber all over him?
That was my star sighting of the trip. Very cool.
Anyways, I'm super tired right now from travelling. I'll try and spice this thread up a bit more with some other pics as soon as I can.
Anyways, I'm back. Glad to be home, but missing that blue water like crazy.

PS...VT, Silver Moon was a fantastic recommendation. Kudos. I'd go back and do that again in a heartbeat!
