When it comes to grips, what is the most important thing everyone looks for??

There are a lot of choices out now, in fact there is probably too many, but I was curious so I asked. For me at the moment price is a big considering factor. Golf Pride makes a good grip, don't thing anyone would argue with that. But I've found a Golf Smith grip that is identical to Golf Prides for $3/grip.

Now I don't change my grips that often, but have been considering a yearly changing since I got the MP 60's. And if I am changing the grips yearly, to me, $3/grip makes a lot more sense than $8 plus for other "name brand" grips.

any thoughts??

I don't look at price as the "end all be all".. I like cord, and I like sticky elastomer like the Iomics.

I've found the 3Gen from Lamkin to be the best of both worlds..

I've used Golfsmith branded grips before and loved them. For the same price, I picked up some Sharpro MCs from TGW.

If you go through grips fast, or change shafts, or lengths, or anything like that often.. Then I can understand saving some money.

But if you grip once a year, or less... I'd pay for something that would last.. Some argue the GP grips don't last. I've got a set on some irons that are over 2 years old, and they'll still blister your hands from the cord.

If you find something cheaper than the "big brands", go for it. I'm all for value, I just haven't had much luck from the lesser known brands, and I only re-grip once a year.

I play Lamkin Performance Plus or Golf Pride Tour Velvets.

Mainly, because they are cheap and they work. I replace my grips once a season (Canadian season) whether it needs them or not. Fresh grips are worth their weight for control when the weather gets cooler.

I've yet to find a grip that is both expensive and durable. The norm is an expensive grip that wears out in 3 weeks for me. This includes basically anything from Winn, and most of the Multi- Compound offerings from GP.

I've gotten great mileage from my GP Multi-Compounds. I have them on ALL of my iron sets, and some of my wedges. I have Iomic's on my woods, and love them.. Best grips I've used. They get dirty easy, clean up well with acetone, and are so tacky I barely hold the club.

I however, hate the price. I have 10 black Iomics in the garage waiting for a set of irons that need them. Probably my Scratch irons, as I've grown tired of the dual compounds.

The 3Gen from Lamkin for $5 a pop aint bad though. Very cool feeling grip, nice and tacky.. off-white so they don't look disgusting that easy. Bad thing is.. they are thick as hell, and are heavy as lead for those of you who freak out about SW and grip changes and crap.

I like the MC grips from Golf Pride, my problem with them is that they seem to lose tackiness very fast even if you wash them up.

I have always been a fan of Lamkin grips, don't know why, they aren't much different than Tour Velvets I just like them. The Lamkin stingfree is nice and aslo the Crossline Tours. I would like to try out some of the 85th anniversary grips they came out with this year, Golfsmith has them for like $2.19 and $1.99 if you buy 10 or more. That may be the route I go.

All that being said, grips and putters are hard to recommend to people. Shafts too really, and clubheads, and well you get my point. What I like the feel of you may hate.

The golden words of golf. Well, other than "keep your eye on the ball," "grip it and rip it," and "fish food."

I just ordered some Crossline Blues (no paintfill - never seen any before) from Hireko for $1.15 each.

Yikes, great price. Do they have any Black?

I have the GP DD2 grips on most of my stuff now, and I like that grip. However, I have several of the Tacki-mac itomic grips in play and like them. I am going to regrip everything in the bag with them here in a few days, I really like how tacky those grips are. Could not bring myself to pay the crazy prices for iomics. So, we will see how they work out. So far I like em.
